The Claims Litigation Specialist will oversee complex claims from investigation through resolution, providing expert guidance on coverage, liability, negotiation, and litigation-related matters. This role will focus on high-impact files requiring dedicated attention, strategic decision-making, and strong collaboration with internal teams and external parties.
- Manage complex claims involving bad faith allegations, coverage disputes, and challenging claims-handling issues.
- Investigate and resolve sensitive cases involving daycare abuse/molestation allegations, fatalities with coverage concerns, and severe injury claims.
- Handle complex construction defect claims involving multiple parties, contractual considerations, and liability analysis.
- Lead coverage file management and coordinate Declaratory Relief Actions to ensure effective case strategy and resolution.
- Evaluate policy limit exposures and determine potential extra-contractual risks through detailed claims analysis.
- Resolve problematic or escalated claims by developing strategies that achieve appropriate and timely outcomes.
- Apply advanced knowledge of commercial general liability policies, insurance coverage, and litigation practices.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and claims leadership to assess case assignments, priorities, and resolution strategies.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience handling complex commercial liability claims and litigation matters, with the ability to independently manage sophisticated cases and make sound coverage decisions. Strong analytical thinking, negotiation expertise, and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.
- 15–20+ years of directly related experience in Commercial General Liability and claims litigation.
- Proven experience managing complex claims involving bad faith, coverage disputes, severe injuries, fatalities, and construction defect matters.
- Strong understanding of insurance policies, coverage interpretation, claims investigation, and litigation processes.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage high-value, complex files with accuracy and efficiency.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to navigate complex legal and contractual issues.
- Ability to prioritize multiple high-impact cases while maintaining strong attention to detail.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with claims teams, legal partners, and business stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Declaratory Relief Action procedures and centralized file management is preferred.
- Competitive annual base salary range of $106,000 - $143,000 USD.
