Coordinator - Promise Program - Central Campus
- Administers all phases of the San Jacinto College Promise Program supporting students from initial program participation through retention and completion.
- Supports San Jacinto College Promise Program students by meeting with participants as needed to discuss program eligibility, requirements, concerns, and continued participation. Connects students with appropriate college resources and services, provides guidance on Promise Program requirements and next steps, and documents student interactions
- Schedules, organizes, and presents information related to the San Jacinto College Promise Program to local high school students at on and off campus events. Collaborates with the Outreach and Financial Aid Teams to ensure information is consistent and to coordinate staff support.
- Proactively contacts students with incomplete or missing information to submit the necessary forms to maintain program eligibility.
- Stays abreast of changing institutional information including admissions requirements, financial aid requirements, deadlines, important dates, costs, expanding facilities, updates in college-wide initiatives, and state and federal mandates.
- Administers the collection, monitoring, and reporting of data related to Promise Program eligibility and student success, including GPA, enrollment/credit hour requirements, satisfactory academic progress, and other program requirements for internal and external stakeholder and student communications.
- Collaborates with internal partners to support and promote student retention initiatives, workshops, programs, and events that serve San Jacinto College Promise Program students
- Obtains document and reports success data on assigned students as related to intervention strategies.
- Serves as the liaison officer from the Promise program for the Special Initiatives, Outreach, Admissions, Financial Aid and IT Offices.
- Coordinates with the Student Development Leadership team to determine unit needs and implement services.
- Consults with the Director of Advising, Career & Transfer to plan, implement and evaluate the programs and services on the campus that support both the accomplishment of the College’s annual goals and objectives.
- Represents SJC with outside educational institutions, internal departments, and professional organizations. Serve as department liaison and on campus/college committees as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Manage numerous tasks simultaneously and develop and complete new projects and programs under minimal supervision.
- Ability to operate a personal computer and be fluent with Microsoft Office Suite. (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Must have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of educational policies.
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with groups, in person and over the telephone.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member with flexibility and thoroughness in the performance of duties.
- Ability to work effectively in a college community and meet the needs of student populations.
- Must behave in a considerate manner with others regardless of ethnicity, gender, age, disability, or beliefs.
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in psychology, education, sociology, or related field.
- Two or more years of experience providing various modes of educational planning and/or counseling in a community college system.
- Knowledge and experience with Banner Student Systems or other student database software systems preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
