As a Staff Software Engineer, you will serve as a technical leader responsible for defining architecture, improving engineering practices, and enabling teams to build scalable, reliable solutions. You will work across functions to translate business needs into effective technical strategies while mentoring engineers and driving continuous improvement.
- Lead and define full-stack architecture within engineering teams, ensuring technical direction aligns with business objectives and scalability needs.
- Design, build, and maintain high-quality applications using modern technologies including Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, SQL, and relational databases.
- Own architectural planning, system design, technical documentation, and implementation strategies for distributed systems.
- Identify technical risks, evaluate solutions, and proactively address scalability, reliability, and performance challenges.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, pair programming, technical coaching, and knowledge sharing.
- Partner with Product and Design teams to transform customer and business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Drive engineering excellence through automation, testing improvements, refactoring initiatives, and modern development practices.
- Influence broader technical strategy by collaborating with engineering leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Improve system reliability, performance, and maintainability while supporting the evolution of products and platforms.
- Help teams adopt effective standards, processes, and technologies that enable sustainable growth.
The ideal candidate is an experienced software engineer with strong architectural expertise, leadership capabilities, and a passion for building scalable systems in a high-growth environment.
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Expert-level experience with full-stack development, particularly Ruby on Rails and TypeScript; experience with Angular is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of SQL, relational databases such as PostgreSQL, and exposure to NoSQL technologies.
- Proven experience designing scalable, distributed, and event-driven systems.
- Demonstrated expertise in architecture planning, system design, and technical documentation.
- Ability to identify, evaluate, and mitigate technical risks in complex environments.
- Experience leading technical initiatives and guiding engineering teams through execution.
- Strong mentoring skills with the ability to support engineers at different levels of seniority.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently, make sound technical decisions, and thrive in a fast-paced, ownership-driven environment.
- Competitive salary range of $165,000 – $200,000 per year.
