As an Outpatient CADC Counselor, you’ll be part of that journey. You’ll build meaningful therapeutic relationships with individuals navigating substance use and recovery, helping them understand patterns, recognize strengths, work through barriers, and turn possibility into practical next steps.

What You’ll Do

Your day-to-day work centers on building strong therapeutic relationships and helping individuals turn recovery goals into meaningful, sustainable change.

You’ll combine clinical expertise with a person-centered, trauma-informed approach—meeting each client where they are while helping them build the skills, supports, and confidence to move forward.

On a typical week, you will:

• Provide individual and group counseling using evidence-based, recovery-oriented approaches
• Conduct assessments and ongoing evaluations to understand each client’s strengths, needs, challenges, and goals
• Develop individualized treatment plans in partnership with clients and adjust them as needs and progress evolve
• Help clients identify barriers to recovery, develop practical coping strategies, and build skills that support long-term stability
• Provide education and guidance related to substance use disorders, recovery, relapse prevention, and strategies for maintaining progress
• Monitor client progress, recognize successes, address challenges, and help clients remain connected to their goals
• Coordinate care with medical providers, mental health professionals, recovery mentors, case managers, and other members of the care team
• Connect clients with housing, vocational, community, recovery, and other supportive resources when appropriate
• Respond effectively to urgent needs and crises using trauma-informed intervention and sound clinical judgment
• Complete assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other required documentation accurately and on time
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, applicable regulatory requirements, ethical standards, and ARC confidentiality expectations
• Bring compassion, professionalism, appropriate boundaries, and respect to every interaction
• Contribute to a collaborative environment where communication, clinical expertise, and teamwork support each person’s unique path toward recovery

Requirements:

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for an Outpatient CADC Counselor who brings clinical skill, compassion, curiosity, and thoughtful communication to their work

You understand that effective treatment begins with trust and that lasting recovery is supported through individualized care, meaningful connection, accountability, and partnership.

Required Qualifications

• Current Oregon CADC I, CADC II, or CADC III certification
• Strong understanding of clinical practices and standards related to substance use disorder treatment
• Ability to provide evidence-based individual and group counseling using person-centered, trauma-informed approaches
• Ability to assess client needs, develop individualized treatment plans, monitor progress, and adapt care as needs evolve
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish effective therapeutic relationships
• Ability to provide crisis intervention and support individuals through complex or challenging circumstances
• Strong organizational, documentation, and time-management skills with attention to accuracy and detail
• Ability to work effectively within a collaborative, multidisciplinary care environment
• Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and other workplace technology
• Understanding of HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, confidentiality requirements, and professional and ethical standards

Preferred Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in behavioral health or a related field
• CADC II or CADC III certification
• Experience providing substance use disorder treatment in an outpatient or similar clinical setting
• Experience supporting individuals with co-occurring behavioral health needs
• Experience coordinating care across medical, mental health, recovery support, and community-based services
• Experience providing culturally responsive services to individuals from diverse backgrounds and life experiences
• CGAC I or CGAC II certification, if applicable
• Bilingual in Spanish and English

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation

• $49,920–$68,400 annually
• Compensation is based on a 32-hour workweek
• Starting pay is based on relevant experience, demonstrated skills, credentials, and qualifications

Work-Life Balance

• Four-day, 32-hour workweek
• 10 paid holidays each year, with many converting to floating holidays when worked or when they fall on your regularly scheduled day off
• Vacation and sick time begin accruing immediately
• Employees may earn up to three weeks of vacation and two weeks of sick time during their first year
