About This Position
The Engagement CADC Counselor is responsible for connecting with individuals who may be in active addiction or early stages of recovery through community outreach and harm reduction services. This role focuses on engaging clients who may not yet be ready for traditional treatment, providing immediate support, and facilitating their transition into structured care. The Engagement CADC Counselor operates in various community settings, including outreach locations and public spaces, to offer support and resources.
Activities and duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Program Administration:
- Conduct proactive outreach in community settings such as ARC’s engagement center and/or shelters, parks, and public spaces to connect with individuals affected by substance use.
- Build trusting relationships with clients through empathetic and non-judgmental interactions.
- Provide harm reduction services, including naloxone distribution and education on safer substance use practices.
- Promote awareness of available treatment options and encourage clients to access support services.
- Tailor engagement strategies to meet the needs of clients, considering their readiness for change and individual circumstances.
- Conduct initial assessments to evaluate clients’ substance use history, needs, and readiness for treatment.
- Develop and implement personalized engagement plans to support clients in accessing appropriate services.
- Facilitate motivational interviewing and other therapeutic techniques to support clients in their recovery journey.
- Provide direct counseling and support to clients, addressing substance use issues and related challenges.
- Document all client interactions, outreach activities, and referrals in compliance with regulatory and agency standards.
- Collaborate with community partners, local agencies, and other stakeholders to enhance outreach efforts and integrate services.
- Participate in team meetings and case consultations to coordinate care and ensure effective service delivery.
- Work with clinical and support staff to facilitate client transitions into formal treatment programs as client’s express readiness.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of outreach activities, client interactions, and service referrals.
- Follow agency policies and procedures related to client confidentiality and data security.

Requirements:Education/Licensure Required:
- Post-secondary education in behavioral health or related field, preferred.
- MHACBO Registered CADC I, II, III certification.
- If applicable, CGAC I or II.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
- Expertise in substance use disorders and harm reduction practices
- Experience in community outreach and client engagement strategies
- Strong understanding of clinical practices and guidelines in addiction treatment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using Electronic Health Records and other relevant software.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and CFR 42 PART II policies.
- Ability to provide evidence-based therapeutic and counseling techniques.
- Capacity to model healthy behaviors and coping strategies consistent with recovery principles.
- Skilled in crisis intervention and utilizing a trauma-informed approach.
- Commitment to maintaining client confidentiality and clinical integrity.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
