Network Administrator - Journeyman

Primary Location: Quantico, VA

Clearance: Active DoD Secret

(Day + Swing, on-call night)

Job Summary

We are seeking a Network Administrator – Journeyman to support the daily operations and sustainment of enterprise network infrastructure. This role focuses on maintaining system availability, applying patches and upgrades, and supporting interface and capacity management activities. The ideal candidate will bring strong troubleshooting skills, experience with secure network environments, and a commitment to operational excellence in a mission-critical 24/7/365 environment.

Specific Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain network infrastructure, including switches, routers, and virtualized environments
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity, latency, and configuration issues
• Apply patches and updates to network and system components, including Exadata and Oracle VM environments
• Support interface management by ensuring connectivity and compliance across internal and external systems
• Document network events, changes, and configurations in accordance with operational standards
• Collaborate with help desk, cybersecurity, and audit teams to ensure secure and compliant network operations

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
• 4–6 years of experience in network administration or systems support roles
• Experience managing and maintaining enterprise network and server environments
• Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers
• Experience with system software installation, patching, and upgrades
• Familiarity with network monitoring tools and performance tuning techniques
• Understanding of backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures
• Ability to document network events, changes, and configurations using standard formats
• Active DoD Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain one
• Experience supporting secure federal or defense-related IT environments
• Familiarity with virtualization platforms (e.g., Oracle VM, VMware) and network storage systems
• Experience with IAVA compliance, STIGs, and DoD cybersecurity standards
• Knowledge of Exadata, InfiniBand, and Oracle-based infrastructure components
• Exposure to interface management and coordination with external systems
• Experience supporting 24/7/365 operations and collaborating with help desk and audit teams

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• Must be able to work in a secure federal environment
• Standard office environment with computer workstation
• Ability to workday and swing shifts with on-call night responsibilities
• Ability to work on-site at Quantico, VA location
• Must be available for 24/7/365 on-call support as needed
