Job Description
Job Title: Database Administrator II
Location: Remote - DHS CISA Office of Bombing Prevention; approved work location within the 50 United States or the District of Columbia.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday;
Security Requirements: Must successfully complete the required DHS/CISA background investigation, obtain and maintain a favorable DHS suitability/fitness determination (Public Trust), and maintain required system access.
Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States and meet DHS/CISA personnel and system access requirements.
AttainX is seeking a Database Administrator II to maintain the reliability, performance, security, and availability of databases supporting OBP mission applications. This role supports cloud-based operations, data protection, corrective maintenance, and coordinated service improvements.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Two (2) to four (4) years of related database administration experience, including database operations supporting applications or cloud-hosted services.
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience with SQL, database configuration, performance monitoring and tuning, access controls, backups, and recovery procedures.
- Experience troubleshooting application/database integration and supporting upgrades, patching, and approved configuration changes.
- Knowledge of data ingestion, data integrity validation, information protection, and cloud database operations.
- Ability to maintain operational documentation and coordinate with developers, data stewards, system administrators, and security personnel.
- A relevant database administration or cloud database certification is preferred.
- Ability to satisfy required Government background investigation, system access, nondisclosure, and sensitive-information protection requirements.
Job Duties:
- Administer and monitor mission application databases and associated cloud services to maintain performance, availability, and secure operation.
- Perform preventive, corrective, and perfective database maintenance; troubleshoot database failures and legacy application integration issues.
- Plan, test, and implement approved database patches, upgrades, configuration changes, and emergency fixes.
- Support remediation of critical and high database vulnerabilities within timelines prescribed by CISA security guidance.
- Maintain database backups and recovery procedures; validate restoration and support data loss prevention planning.
- Manage database access and approved configurations in coordination with system owners and security personnel.
- Support data ingestion and work with data owners and stewards to address integrity, protection, and operational issues.
- Monitor utilization and capacity, tune database performance, and optimize cloud resources to support changing demand.
- Maintain maintenance logs, configuration records, SOPs, and applicable security authorization evidence, including monthly scan and reporting inputs.
- Coordinate change implementation, application deployment support, monitoring and alerting, licensing inputs, and operational knowledge transfer with the CISA Technology Operations Center.

Work Environment:
Work is performed remotely from an approved personal residence or corporate telecommuting site within the 50 United States or the District of Columbia. The workspace must provide reliable connectivity and protect sensitive Government information and Government-furnished equipment. Work hours are generally between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays, with an eight-hour workday and required availability from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Occasional work outside normal hours, including weekends and holidays, may be required for critical issues, emergency response, or approved changes. Office noise is generally moderate. Remote work remains subject to Government approval and access requirements.
