Patient Access & Scheduling Coordinator

Position Summary:
The Patient Access & Scheduling Coordinator is a key member of the Granville Health System Endoscopy Center team, responsible for delivering an exceptional patient experience by serving as the primary point of contact for patients throughout their procedure scheduling process. This individual is responsible for welcoming patients, completing accurate registration, verifying insurance benefits, collecting payments, and coordinating procedure scheduling. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and excels in a patient-facing role requiring professionalism, empathy, and efficiency.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Greet and check in patients in a courteous and professional manner, creating a welcoming environment.
  • Obtain and verify patient demographics, insurance coverage, and required authorizations prior to scheduling procedures.
  • Coordinate and schedule endoscopy procedures, ensuring proper documentation and pre-procedure instructions are communicated to the patient.
  • Respond to patient phone calls, messages, and questions related to appointments, benefits, and billing.
  • Collect copayments, deductibles, and other patient financial responsibilities at the time of registration.
  • Accurately input and update patient information in the electronic health record (EHR) and scheduling system.
  • Ensure all patient information is handled in a confidential manner in compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to ensure smooth patient flow and timely communication of patient needs.
  • Monitor appointment schedules to identify and resolve any potential delays or conflicts.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment and help resolve issues that may impact patient care or satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in healthcare, business, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a medical office, patient registration, or surgical scheduling environment is preferred, but not required.
  • Working knowledge of insurance plans, pre-authorization, and benefits verification processes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on delivering excellent customer service.
  • Ability to multitask and manage a high-volume workload with professionalism and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic health record/scheduling systems; experience with Allscripts a plus.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism in a high-paced outpatient procedural setting.

Work Environment:
This is a full-time position based at the Granville Health System Endoscopy Center. Hours are Monday through Friday, with early morning start times aligned to procedure schedules. Occasional flexibility may be required.
