Infrastructure & Capital Projects Vice President Data Centers, ANS

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Infrastructure & Capital Projects – Vice President – Data Centers, ANS based in United States.

This senior leadership role combines business development, client leadership, and capital project execution within the data center industry.
You will help shape and grow a strategic data center capital projects practice while advising clients on complex infrastructure initiatives.
The role spans the full project lifecycle, from concept and initiation through construction, commissioning, completion, and post-handover upgrades.
You will lead senior professionals, cultivate major client relationships, and develop new opportunities across a rapidly evolving market.
The position requires deep expertise in quantity surveying, cost management, contracts, and large-scale hyperscale data center projects.
You will collaborate with architects, engineers, general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and executive stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
This is a predominantly remote role with travel for client meetings, project oversight, collaboration, and relationship building.

Accountabilities:
  • Contribute to annual budgets, strategic objectives, and long-term growth plans for the data center capital projects business.
  • Lead business development activities and collaborate with leaders across business units, regions, and functions to identify, pursue, and win new opportunities.
  • Apply deep industry and technical expertise to proposals, whitepapers, client materials, and other business development initiatives.
  • Build and maintain a broad industry network to stay informed about current and emerging market developments, opportunities, and client needs.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with major clients through regular engagement, serving as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert.
  • Monitor existing client relationships to ensure engagement objectives and delivery commitments are being achieved while identifying opportunities for repeat and additional work.
  • Evaluate contracts and project backlogs for potential risk exposure and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Select, develop, and lead senior professionals by establishing objectives, accountabilities, priorities, and performance expectations.
  • Foster a positive leadership culture centered on collaboration, engagement, psychological safety, and high performance.
  • Conduct periodic performance reviews for assigned senior leaders and manage compensation recommendations within established budget parameters.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in internal and client-facing meetings, offering industry insight and solutions to complex capital project challenges.
  • Contribute thought leadership through conferences, industry organizations, social media, and other public or virtual forums.
  • Oversee project execution for one or more major client capital projects, providing leadership from concept and initiation through completion, handover, and subsequent upgrades or retrofits.
  • Oversee programs and projects to ensure construction activities remain aligned with owner objectives, budgets, schedules, and overall delivery requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and client stakeholders to support successful project delivery.
  • Identify risks across construction and commissioning activities and develop mitigation plans designed to minimize disruptions and protect project outcomes.
  • Foster effective communication and coordination across project teams and external stakeholders throughout execution.
  • Independently contribute to growing the data center capital projects practice while leveraging an internal network of experienced leaders and subject matter experts.
  • Travel as required for client engagements, project oversight, and in-person collaboration.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying.
  • 10+ years of progressive professional experience in quantity surveying or cost management.
  • 5+ years of experience within the data center industry.
  • 3+ years of experience working with hyperscale data centers exceeding 30 MW.
  • 8+ years of demonstrated functional knowledge of contracts, drawings, estimates, specifications, and construction/project requirements.
  • Strong ability to understand and interpret contract documentation, plans, drawings, and specifications to support compliance and project delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and plan across a 3–5 year horizon.
  • Experience leading large markets, business sectors, or complex portfolios is preferred.
  • Proven experience leading, developing, and motivating teams and achieving results through others.
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with MS Project and/or Primavera is preferred.
  • Professional credentials such as PE, CCM, PMP, CFE, COA, or LEED are advantageous.
  • A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Strong commercial awareness, relationship-building ability, independent judgment, and executive presence.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a complex, collaborative environment while managing business development and project execution priorities.
