POSITION SUMMARY
Envision Education seeks a Director of School Operations to lead the execution of network-designed operational systems across assigned school sites. This role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant daily school operations through implementation of enrollment, attendance, student services, compliance tasks, and school-day logistics.
Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, this role is responsible for implementing operational systems designed by Network Operations. The Director ensures high-quality execution, implementation fidelity, and operational reliability at school sites. This role does not design systems, policies, compliance frameworks, or operational governance structures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
School Operational Leadership & ExecutionProvides on-site operational leadership and execution support to ensure consistent, safe, and efficient school operations aligned to network-defined systems.
- Execute daily school operations including arrival, dismissal, lunch, supervision, and school-day logistics.
- Implement daily operational schedules, routines, and staffing coverage plans.
- Support execution of testing days, assemblies, and school-wide operational events.
- Ensure operational readiness for each school day through execution of established procedures.
- Maintain smooth operational flow across school sites through implementation of network systems.
Supports execution of enrollment and recruitment activities to ensure strong student onboarding and yield in alignment with network systems.
- Execute recruitment events, family onboarding sessions, and enrollment fairs.
- Track enrollment milestones and report progress to Network Operations.
- Support implementation of enrollment procedures and front office workflows.
- Maintain accurate enrollment documentation and audit-ready records.
- Implement enrollment communications and materials developed by Network Operations.
Executes daily and cyclical student operations processes to ensure accurate enrollment, attendance, and student records.
- Execute daily attendance entry, tracking, interventions, and reconciliation processes.
- Maintain accurate student data entry within SIS systems.
- Implement enrollment, registration, and onboarding processes defined by Network Operations.
- Maintain required attendance and enrollment documentation and records.
- Support resolution of site-level attendance and enrollment data issues within established systems.
Ensures school-site compliance tasks are completed accurately and on time in alignment with network-defined requirements.
- Execute compliance tasks assigned through network compliance calendars.
- Maintain required documentation, postings, and audit-ready files.
- Support preparation for audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
- Ensure compliance with procedures and timelines defined by Network Operations.
- Does not design compliance systems, reporting structures, or governance frameworks.
Provides coaching and implementation support to school-based operations staff to ensure fidelity of execution.
- Train school-based staff on operational systems, SOPs, and procedures.
- Support consistent implementation of network-defined operational standards.
- Provide feedback and coaching on execution fidelity at school sites.
- Resolve site-level operational issues within established procedures.
- Escalate system-level breakdowns to Network Operations.
QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of progressive experience in operations, preferably in education, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations
- Bachelor’s degree

- Ability to develop others through coaching, feedback, and professional development
- Ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy and sound judgment, taking ownership of outcomes and driving work forward in complex, evolving environments

- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate and influence a variety of stakeholders
- Proven track record of building and strengthening operations systems, policies, and practices to support organizational scale and complexity
- Once hired, continuous current California residency
- Receptiveness to feedback and desire to continuously improve to meet outcomes
- Flexibility during high-demand periods (e.g., testing, graduation, opening of school)
- Preferred: A certificate or graduate degree in Business, Operations, Organizational Development, or related field, knowledge of Bay Area charter school landscape, experience partnering with charter authorizers, proficiency in PowerSchool, SchoolMint, and/or ParentSquare
LOCATION
San Francisco Bay Area office located in Oakland, with frequent required travel to school sites in Hayward, San Francisco, and Oakland.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Schools and office work environment with direct involvement in ongoing conversation, background noise, construction, and facilities work.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Prolonged Sitting & Stationary Work: Ability to remain seated at a desk or in a meeting for up to 8 hours daily.
- Keyboarding & Dexterity: Frequent, continuous use of hands and fingers to type on a computer keyboard, operate a mouse, and handle documents.
- Visual Acuity: Ability to read dense printed texts, documents, contracts, and computer screens for extended periods.
- Vocal & Hearing Stamina: Clear verbal communication, including the ability to speak clearly in meetings and on video/phone calls. Requires strong listening skills to comprehend stakeholder input and engage in collaborative projects.
- Physical Mobility: Ability to walk between offices; stand for short periods; occasionally bend, stoop, or lift light boxes (typically up to 10 or 15 pounds) to transport files and other supplies; and safely move furniture and fixtures as needed.
- Travel Endurance: Ability to travel via car or public transit between Support Office, school sites, and off-site meeting locations.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- $110,000 - $130,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

If you are offered this position, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors, Envision Education complies with applicable pay equity laws and considers internal equity among current employees when developing the final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth. We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package.
