Job Description

Director of AI and Educational Technology, Global Institute

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director of AI and Educational Technology, Global Institute based in the United States.

The Director of AI and Educational Technology will provide strategic and operational leadership across a global portfolio focused on AI, educational technology, and practitioner learning.
You will shape the vision and execution of initiatives that help educators become active co-creators of how AI is used in classrooms and education systems.
The role spans AI literacy, digital knowledge platforms, EdTech entrepreneurship, global learning communities, and strategic partnerships.
You will guide product roadmaps, build organizational capacity, secure resources, and translate emerging technology trends into meaningful educational opportunities.
Working across distributed international networks, you will engage educators, technology partners, funders, senior leaders, and other stakeholders.
The position combines team leadership, program strategy, product and content oversight, external representation, and impact measurement.
This is a remote global opportunity for an experienced leader passionate about using AI and technology to advance educational equity and collective learning.

Accountabilities:
  • Define and execute the strategic vision for AI and educational technology, aligning AI literacy, digital platform, and EdTech entrepreneurship initiatives with broader organizational priorities.
  • Lead the evolution and integration of the AI Literacy & Creator Collective into its next phase, including its migration onto a global digital knowledge platform.
  • Set the product strategy, roadmap, and priorities for the organization’s public-facing knowledge hub and ensure its continued evolution in response to network needs.
  • Continuously assess the needs and impact of AI and EdTech initiatives and use insights, evidence, and data to refine strategy and allocate resources effectively.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with frontier AI companies, technology providers, platform partners, donors, and philanthropic funders.
  • Support funding proposals and learning-agenda documents, ensuring a coherent strategic narrative across multiple funding relationships.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align AI and EdTech priorities with broader organizational strategy and external partnerships.
  • Support the development of regional AI literacy communities and help expand successful models into new geographies.
  • Foster a global learning community of educators, alumni, and network staff exploring the opportunities and challenges presented by AI in education.
  • Lead the development of an AI EdTech Entrepreneur Community, including its purpose, membership model, programming, and connection to the broader learning agenda.
  • Oversee content strategy, taxonomy, editorial processes, and resource management for a global, multilingual digital knowledge platform.
  • Champion an approach that positions educators as co-architects of AI in education rather than passive users of externally developed technologies.
  • Represent the AI and EdTech portfolio internally and externally, including at international conferences, global convenings, and executive-level engagements.
  • Elevate the perspectives and experiences of educators and alumni in global discussions around AI, educational technology, and equity.
  • Support board-level reporting, senior stakeholder communications, and external thought leadership as required.
  • Build, manage, and develop a high-performing team supporting the AI and EdTech portfolio, beginning with a dedicated AI specialist.
  • Oversee day-to-day delivery, budgets, content production, flagship learning experiences, events, and key portfolio initiatives.
  • Monitor performance against KPIs for funded projects in collaboration with finance, network partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Capture and analyze impact data, outcomes, and success stories to inform strategic decisions and support donor and board communications.
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in educational technology, AI integration, digital transformation, global education, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, multi-stakeholder strategic initiatives across international markets, distributed organizations, or global networks.
  • Proven experience in product strategy, digital platform leadership, content management, or knowledge-hub development.
  • Strong understanding of generative AI applications, educational technology infrastructure, and relevant pedagogical frameworks.
  • Demonstrated success developing and managing strategic partnerships with technology companies, corporate partners, donors, philanthropic organizations, or other external stakeholders.
  • Experience building, hiring, mentoring, and managing high-performing teams.
  • Strong strategic thinking and operational execution skills, with the ability to move effectively between long-term vision and day-to-day delivery.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to senior executives, boards, international audiences, or at major conferences.
  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder-management capabilities across cultures, geographies, and organizational contexts.
  • Ability to translate complex AI and technology concepts into accessible, actionable strategies for educators, leaders, funders, and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A strong commitment to educational equity and to approaches that empower educators and communities to shape the use of technology in context.
  • Familiarity with global education networks and distributed partnership models is highly desirable.
  • Fluency in languages beyond English, particularly Spanish, French, or Arabic, is an advantage.
  • Experience designing entrepreneurship communities, incubators, innovation programs, or global practitioner networks is a plus.
  • Must already have valid authorization to work and reside in the country from which the role will be performed; visa sponsorship, immigration assistance, and work-permit support are not provided.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as needed, with expected travel of up to 10%.
  • Comfortable working across multiple time zones and participating in occasional early-morning or evening calls.
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary, determined by country of hire and relevant professional experience.
  • Comprehensive benefits package designed to support employee well-being and work-life needs.
  • Fully remote work arrangement in eligible countries.
  • Flexible working arrangements designed to accommodate a globally distributed team.
  • Generous paid time off.
  • Professional and personal development opportunities.
  • Opportunities to work on globally significant initiatives at the intersection of AI, education, technology, and social impact.
  • Exposure to international educators, innovators, technology partners, funders, and education leaders.
  • Opportunity to shape emerging approaches to AI literacy and responsible technology use in education.
  • Inclusive and collaborative culture focused on belonging, equity, diverse perspectives, and meaningful impact.
  • Opportunity to lead a global portfolio and build a high-performing, internationally distributed team.
  • Travel opportunities for team retreats, global convenings, and strategic engagements.
