Location: Nacogdoches Group Home - Nacogdoches, TX
Position Number: 337
Compensation: $30,850 annually

About the Role

Burke is seeking a caring and dependable Residential Assistant (RA) to provide daily support and guidance to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) living in a residential group home setting.

As a Residential Assistant, you'll help create a safe, supportive, and home-like environment while assisting residents with daily living activities, active treatment, and personal growth. Working alongside an interdisciplinary team, you'll play an important role in promoting independence, dignity, and quality of life for the individuals we serve.

What You'll Do
  • Provide guidance, supervision, and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Assist residents with daily living activities and personal care as needed
  • Provide active treatment according to individualized service plans
  • Assist the Day Programmer with scheduled active treatment activities
  • Promote a safe, positive, and home-like living environment
  • Ensure the residence meets Life Safety and Health standards
  • Complete daily documentation, including activity notes, medication inventory records, and progress reports
  • Complete additional documentation as needed
  • Work collaboratively with clinical staff and other professionals to support resident goals
Education & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Compassionate, dependable, and patient demeanor
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to providing quality care in a residential setting
  • Valid Texas driver's license required
What Helps You Stand Out
  • Six (6) months of experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Experience in residential care, direct support, or caregiving
  • Knowledge of person-centered care and active treatment principles
  • Experience maintaining documentation and medication records

Work Schedule
  • Rotating schedule
  • Two days: 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.
  • Three days: 10:30 p.m. - 9:00 a.m.
  • Availability required Monday through Sunday due to the rotating schedule
Licenses & Certifications
  • Valid Texas driver's license required
  • Must successfully complete:
    • Satori Alternatives to Managing Aggression (SAMA)
    • CPR
    • First Aid
    • Defensive Driving
    • All required Burke employee training
  • Driving record must be insurable by Burke's insurance administrator
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to walk and drive as needed
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring hand and finger dexterity
