- Performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and operations of buildings, grounds, parks, open space, and sports fields.
- Complies with District and industry related safety policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure the safety of self, co-workers, park users and the community.
- May operate and maintain specialized equipment and tools as listed below under “Tools and Equipment Used”.
- Effective, tactful verbal and written communication skills.
- Fulfills alternate duties and responsibilities as required or assigned by the Supervisor.
- Maintenance of park grounds, shelters, and restrooms.
- Effectively communicate with public/user groups.
- Operate various equipment, complete minor construction projects, assist with litter control, snow removal, and special events.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
- Lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time.
- Perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
- Effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Use equipment and tools properly and safely.
- Understand, follow, and transmit written and verbal instructions.
- Establish effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and the public.
- Represent the District in a professional manner, exemplifying integrity and excellence always.
- Maintain a good driving record.
Works under the general guidance and direction of the Parks Services Supervisor and Technicians.
Work ScheduleThe work schedule is generally Wednesday through Saturday, 10 hour shifts, 40 hours per week. Work schedules will vary depending on weather conditions, projects, events and programs, meeting and/or staffing levels and will include evenings, early mornings, and weekend hours. May be required to work holidays as staffing needs dictate. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.
Tools and Equipment UsedMay operate a variety of equipment including lawn and landscape equipment including pickup truck with automatic/manual transmission, trailers, tractors, mowers, edgers, weed trimmers, sprayers, utility vehicles, blowers, high pressure washer, miscellaneous hand and power tools for shelter and restroom maintenance, carpentry, and painting. Computer, web-based software, calculator, phone, general office and breakroom equipment.
