Project Manager
Department: Sustainment
Location: CMO Ottawa
Security Clearance: Secret
Reports To: Business Planner
As the Project Manager, you will oversee the successful delivery of mechanical, electrical, civil, and electronic system projects for the North Warning System (NWS). Your expertise will ensure these projects, ranging from overhauls to decommissioning, are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop project charters, statements of work, tender packages, and bid analysis.
- Define project scope, schedules, and cost estimates; lead review meetings.
- Monitor and control assigned project portfolios, including change management.
- Support project implementation phases, status reporting, and financial forecasting.
- Manage project closeout processes, including deficiency resolution and deliverable acceptance.
- Collaborate with internal teams and subcontractors to ensure seamless delivery.
- Coordinate training, procedures, and inventory readiness for in-service operations.
- Perform site visits for implementation acceptance and commissioning.
You are a detail-oriented project manager with strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams.
Qualifications:
- Education: Post-secondary education in finance, business management, project management, or engineering.
- Certification: PMP or equivalent designation (an asset).
- Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience.
- Familiarity with delivering projects to the Government of Canada is preferred.
- Skills:
- Knowledge of project management principles and tender/proposal development.
- Proficiency in MS Office and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Supervisory or leadership training.
- Engineering design and management experience.
- Contribute to meaningful projects supporting Canada’s North.
- Work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Travel to unique and remote NWS locations (~15 days/year).
- Effort: Primarily desk-based with occasional presentations and meetings.
- Environment: Normal office setting with periodic travel required.
- Internal & External Relationships:
- Internal: Collaborate with Engineering, Contracts, Accounting, and Operations teams.
- External: Partner with government entities, subcontractors, and suppliers.
