Job Description
Job Summary: As the Site Coordinator for the After School Program, you will manage a team of dedicated staff and ensure program quality at one of our exceptional club sites. You will also be responsible for executing the five key elements that will engage stakeholders and create loyal supporters of the Boys & Girls Club.
Key Roles/Responsibilities:
- Create an environment that promotes an Optimal Club Experience for all members, as demonstrated by National Youth Outcome Initiative (NYOI) Survey results, Youth Program Quality Assessments, pulse checks, daily attendance patterns, and other relevant data.
- Ensure that the team of Youth Development Assistants implements daily programs according to the program calendar and corresponding program plans to actively engage youth members.
- Ensure that age-appropriate settings create stability, consistency, and a sense of physical and emotional safety for members.
- Maintain safe and efficient ratios, with a minimum of a 1:20 staff to members ratio to meet safety standards, generally operating the site in a 1:15 staff to members ratio. This may include releasing staff with a staggered approach and regrouping members, depending on daily attendance.
- Provide structure and clearly define acceptable behaviors with members and staff.
- Always wear a name badge and uniform proudly. Ensure the staff team complies with the uniform policy.
- Guarantee Program Area(s) are left clean, chairs pushed in, trash picked up off the floor, lights turned off, and items returned to the proper place. As a general rule, areas are left cleaner than they were found.
- Generate FUN for members and ensure members develop a strong sense of belonging through connections they establish with staff and peers.
- Ensure the program area feels like home, fostering a family atmosphere and creating a sense of ownership for members.
- Make sure that members form valuable connections with both their peers and adults. Encourage the development of these relationships and take the time to get to know each member on a deeper level.
- Build strong relationships with the members, parents, staff, and school personnel.
- Build positive relationships with community partners, staff team, parents, school personnel, and members that make them raving fans of Boys & Girls Clubs.
- Ensure club youth acquire physical, social, technological, artistic, and life skills designated by the program area.
- Encourage members to develop a moral character, reinforcing high expectations and helping members with school and post-secondary education.
- Recognize and support the member's and staff teams' self-worth and accomplishments.
- Encourage youth and provide positive reinforcement as they improve and experience success.
- Ensure area(s) showcase young people's achievements.
Other Responsibilities:
- Assist with food preparation and serving.
- Provide assistance with front door responsibilities.
- Perform data entry and various administrative tasks.
Skills/Knowledge Required:
- Exceptional skills in organization, attention to detail, time management, leadership, and ability to manage multiple tasks, define and set priorities, and problem-solve.
- Exhibit professionalism and integrity through superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to take the initiative with projects to work independently and in a team.
- A personal mission, vision, and values that align with Boys & Girls Clubs of North Central Illinois .
- Ability to recruit, supervise, and motivate club members.
- Ability to train, supervise, and motivate staff.
- Ability to deal effectively with students and parents, including discipline problems.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must be eligible and willing to complete training to drive a 12-passenger van.
- Bilingual preferred.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or higher.
- Experience working with kids or teens is preferred.
- Prior management experience is preferred.
- Prior non-profit work experience is a plus.
