Position Summary
-
Neurologist will be responsible for diagnosing and treating neurological disorders of the central and peripheral nervous systems. Based on clinical findings, they develop and consult with patients on health management plan; order and interpret diagnostic studies to determine best treatment options; prescribe medications to manage health conditions and best stabilize a patient; and monitor patient progress to adjust treatment strategy as necessary, while communicating progress to the involved parties. Neurologist will consult readily with other medical disciplines and serve as a professional resource for health system and other clinicians.

Doctor of Medicine (MD)- Required

Completion of Residency recognized by ACGME - Required

Core Job Functions
-
Evaluate, diagnose, and treat neurological disorders of the central and peripheral nervous systems, including stroke, dementia, seizure, Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, and other Neurologic conditions. Monitor and track patient progress.

Customize a care plan for each patient.
- Order and analyze tests such as clinical laboratory studies, electroencephalogram (EEG/EMG), computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), etc. Enter referrals or consults when necessary.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including other medical professionals, care team, and support departments. Liaise with other disciplines, as well as Neurology-related programs (e.g., tele-stroke, MDS, medical education programs, ambulatory and inpatient departments). Provide Neurology consults to other providers as needed.
- Educate family and patient on condition, treatment updates, care plan, expectations, and discharge process. Answer questions accordingly, use patient centered approach to counsel patients and families.
- Respond quickly to emergent situations, such as stroke or epileptic seizure, that require immediate evaluation and treatment
- Document progress notes timely and accurately in the electronic medical record.
- Participate in quality and safety initiatives, in an effort to enhance the overall neurology patient experience and clinical outcomes. Participate in occasional meetings related to specialty and resources.
