Mechanical Assembly Technician

Position Overview

Were seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Assembly Technician to build and assemble specialized refrigeration and environmental control systems used in laboratory environments. This hands-on role involves mechanical assembly, metal fabrication, tubing work, and reading technical drawings to ensure products meet quality and performance standards.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, enjoys working with tools, and takes pride in precision workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical components and subassemblies, including pumps, blowers, heaters, and refrigeration components.

• Cut, bend, and fit copper and stainless steel tubing to required specifications.

• Perform drilling, tapping, threading, and basic metal fabrication.

• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.

• Install gaskets, seals, and caulking to ensure proper fit and system integrity.

• Use calipers, micrometers, rulers, and other measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.

• Inspect completed assemblies and identify issues before final integration.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with tools or assembly work.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints or willingness to learn.

• Basic math skills and familiarity with precision measuring tools.

• Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively as part of a team.

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. independently and up to 70 lbs. with assistance.

• Forklift experience preferred or willingness to obtain certification.

Preferred Experience

• Metal fabrication.

• Copper or stainless-steel tubing.

• Refrigeration systems or mechanical assembly.
