Position Summary
The CNC Roll Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining computer-controlled roll forming and plate rolling machinery to form metal materials into specific shapes and diameters per customer and engineering specifications. This role ensures efficient, high-quality production and compliance with all safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC roll forming and plate rolling machines for steel and alloy materials.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and production work orders.
- Program CNC machines with correct dimensions and parameters based on material type and thickness.
- Measure and verify product dimensions using tape measures, calipers, and templates.
- Monitor the forming process to ensure correct shape, alignment, and surface quality.
- Inspect finished products for quality and compliance with specifications.
- Perform regular maintenance, cleaning, and safety checks on equipment.
- Log production data, maintain accurate records, and report output and downtime.
- Adjust machine settings as needed to optimize performance and reduce waste.
- Report mechanical issues or product defects to maintenance or supervisors promptly.
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Collaborate with team members and assist in training new operators as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing or machine operation role preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret production drawings, blueprints, work orders, and safety documents.
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
- Basic math and computer skills for data entry and machine interface.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods (8+ hours per shift).
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs. independently.
- Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and manual handling of materials required.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to tolerate noise, heat, and dust in a manufacturing environment.
- Visual acuity to read measuring tools, drawings, and detect quality defects.
- Must pass initial and ongoing physical or occupational health screenings (e.g., lifting assessment, vision test, hearing test, etc.).
- Must be able to wear required PPE, including steel-toe boots, gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing floor with exposure to moving mechanical parts, sharp materials, and moderate to loud noise.
- Possible exposure to hot or cold environments depending on the season.
- Work schedule may include overtime or weekend shifts as needed.
