About This Position
Overview Operate common machine shop milling equipment such as 3 and 4 axis machining centers and drill presses. Produce production parts to required tolerances, and complete secondary, rework, and deburring operations.
Training, Experience, Education and Skills.
• Requires minimum grade 13 or equivalent education, and /or has a minimum 6 months’ experience as a Machinist otherwise minimum 6 months training shall be provided.
• Highly organized with a keen eye for details,
• Able to self-organize and follow instructions independently,
• Able to read and interpret part drawings, specifications and requirements,
• Able to read, speak, write and understand English,
• Knowledge of a wide variety of sheet metal repair techniques, fasteners, and rivets.
• Ability to work with small pieces (Hand dexterity)
• 2 years’ experience with operating a CNC or manual mill or lathe.
• Past experience with inspection equipment is a plus.
• Recognition and understanding of common G+M code style programming.
• Basic blueprint comprehension is a plus.
• Mathematical knowledge including addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
• Sufficient reading and writing ability to follow work instructions and prepare simple production reports.
• Sufficient visual acuity (corrected) to read instructions, operate machines, and visually inspect parts produced.
• Sufficient manual dexterity to operate machines properly.
• Physical ability to do work requiring frequent stooping and bending.
Related duties and responsibilities
• Follow quality management system policies and procedures as per AS 9100 International Standard
• Follow applicable work instructions and maintain appropriate records.
• Perform work, sorting as per rework procedures.
• Fill out records, work orders or production related records, as required.
• Maintain work area clean and organized, follow health and safety rules at Coordinate Industries Ltd.
• Follow directions and produce required quantity of parts on the job traveler.
• Must produce parts within required tolerances.
• Must follow quality assurance instructions, measure and record inspections, and process non-conformances that are discovered.
• Responsible for keeping work area in neat condition and following 5S.
• Follow all safety rules regarding machine operations and proper guarding.
• Perform secondary operations if time is allowed between machine runs.
• Assist with machine maintenance.
• Support Shop with improvement activities and projects.
• Perform other Shop duties as assigned.
