Maintenance Manager – Ring Pop Factory
Reports to: Manufacturing Director
Location: Moosic, Pennsylvania (Ring Pop Production Facility)
Position Summary
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading all maintenance and reliability activities at Bazooka’s Ring Pop manufacturing facility in Moosic, PA. This role ensures optimal equipment performance, minimizes downtime, and supports safe, efficient, and high-quality production.
Reporting to the Manufacturing Director, the Maintenance Manager plays a critical role in driving operational excellence through preventive and predictive maintenance, reliability engineering, and continuous improvement initiatives. This leader will also implement and optimize the use of MaintainX CMMS, develop a robust spare parts management program, and collaborate closely with Quality Assurance to enhance plant performance and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Reliability Leadership
- Lead all maintenance operations including preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance across production, packaging, and facility systems.
- Drive equipment reliability initiatives to improve uptime, reduce breakdowns, and extend asset life.
- Establish and track KPIs such as OEE, MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures), and MTTR (Mean Time to Repair).
- Develop and execute maintenance strategies aligned with plant operational goals.
CMMS & Systems Management
- Implement, manage, and continuously improve the use of MaintainX CMMS.
- Ensure accurate asset tracking, work order management, and maintenance data integrity.
- Leverage CMMS data to identify trends, prioritize work, and drive continuous improvement.
Spare Parts & Inventory Management
- Design and implement a comprehensive spare parts management program.
- Establish critical spare parts lists, stocking strategies, and reorder points.
- Optimize inventory levels to balance cost control with operational reliability.
- Partner with procurement and vendors to ensure timely availability of parts and services.
Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Apply Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement tools to enhance maintenance processes and reduce waste.
- Partner with Quality Assurance to identify and execute continuous improvement initiatives related to product quality, food safety, and equipment performance.
- Support root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for quality and operational issues.
- Influence process transformation and change management through the maintenance organization.
Safety, Compliance & Quality
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with OSHA, FDA, GMP, HACCP, and food safety standards.
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture within the maintenance team.
- Support audit readiness and regulatory compliance through proper documentation and practices.
People Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of maintenance supervisors, technicians, and planners.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous learning.
- Support training and skill development to build a high-performing maintenance organization.
- Collaborate effectively within a unionized environment, ensuring adherence to collective bargaining agreements where applicable.
Financial & Project Management
- Develop and manage the maintenance budget, including labor, parts, and external services.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining reliability and performance.
- Lead and support capital projects, including equipment upgrades, installations, and facility improvements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality teams to support plant objectives.
- Support new product launches and process changes by ensuring equipment readiness and reliability.
- Contribute to long-term asset strategy and capital planning.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field preferred.
- 7–10+ years of maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in food, beverage, or CPG.
- Proven experience in high-speed, automated production environments.
- Experience implementing or managing CMMS platforms (MaintainX strongly preferred).
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance methodologies.
- Experience with reliability engineering principles and tools.
- Familiarity with food safety standards (GMP, HACCP, FDA).
- Proficiency in maintenance planning, scheduling, and KPI management.
