Virginia Union Technical College (VUTC) aims to provide students with multiple pathways to sustainable income and generational wealth through education and workforce training opportunities rooted in industry-driven needs. Designed to help students develop the skills, habits, and experiences necessary to compete successfully in the global economy, the Dean of VUTC will serve as the chief academic and administrative officer of the College. Reporting directly to the University Provost, the Dean will establish the College, define its strategic vision, and guide its growth while overseeing academic excellence, operational effectiveness, and financial sustainability. The Dean will lead the development of innovative, workforce-aligned programs; foster partnerships with industry, community, and government stakeholders; and ensure that students receive a transformative, future-focused education that prepares them for success in a competitive and evolving marketplace.

Responsibilities

  • Promote innovative academic programming responsive to workforce and industry trends.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the chief academic officer of VUTC, responsible for the quality and integrity of all academic programs.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and university administration to design and deliver cutting-edge curricula.
  • Ensure the College meets or exceeds accreditation and compliance standards.
  • Oversee the College’s annual operating budget and fiscal management.
  • Build strong partnerships with business, industry, and workforce organizations to align educational programs with regional and national employment needs.
  • Engage with local communities, alumni, and professional associations to enhance the visibility and impact of VUTC.
  • Serve as a spokesperson and advocate for the College’s mission and programs.
  • Develop and manage external funding sources, including grants, partnerships, and philanthropic contributions.
  • Collaborate with the University’s advancement team to secure resources for program expansion, scholarships, and infrastructure.
  • Ensure students receive a transformative educational experience that prepares them for immediate employment and long-term career growth.
  • Promote equity, access, and inclusion throughout all aspects of the College’s operations.

Education

  • Master’s degree in a business, technical, or education-related field.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive leadership experience in higher education, workforce development, or a related professional sector.
  • Must be able to lift 10 pounds.
