The Director of the Jordan Institute provides strategic leadership, program development, and operational oversight for the Institute’s academic, research, and community engagement initiatives. The Director works collaboratively with university leadership, faculty, students, and external partners to advance the Institute’s mission, enhance scholarly activity, and strengthen community impact. This role is responsible for developing innovative programming, securing external funding, fostering partnerships, and ensuring the Institute operates effectively in alignment with the university’s strategic priorities.
Responsibilities
- Provide vision, leadership, and strategic direction for the Jordan Institute.
- Collaborate with university leadership to align Institute activities with institutional priorities and community engagement efforts.
- Design, coordinate, and oversee academic, research, and public engagement programs.
- Organize lectures, seminars, conferences, and community-based initiatives.
- Build relationships with community organizations, government agencies, nonprofits, and industry partners.
- Serve as the primary representative and spokesperson for the Jordan Institute.
- Promote collaborative initiatives that strengthen civic engagement and social impact.
- Identify and pursue grant funding opportunities and external partnerships.
- Manage grant-funded projects and ensure compliance with university and funding agency requirements.
- Manage the Institute’s budget, resources, and administrative operations.
- Supervise staff, student assistants, and affiliated faculty as appropriate.
- Prepare reports, assessments, and strategic updates for university leadership.
- Promote opportunities for student participation in research, internships, and experiential learning.
- Support programs that foster leadership, civic responsibility, and professional development.
Education
- Master’s degree in public administration, education, social sciences, business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of leadership or program management experience, preferably within higher education, nonprofit, or civic engagement organizations.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, program development, and partnership building.
- Must be able to lift 10 pounds.
