About the RoleBlackrock Strategy, Inc. (BrS) is seeking an Accounting Specialist to support accounting and financial operations in a fast-paced government contracting environment.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, travel expense processing, and financial reporting activities that support mission execution across defense and national security programs.

Location RequirementThis position requires full-time onsite support in Huntsville, Alabama. Remote and hybrid work arrangements are not available for this role.

- Payroll, AP, and AR activities are completed accurately and on time
- Financial records remain organized and audit-ready
- Financial discrepancies are identified and resolved proactively
- Employees receive timely support for accounting-related questions
- Accounting processes scale effectively as company operations continue to grow
- Process semi-monthly payroll accurately and on schedule
- Review employee timecards for accuracy and labor charging compliance
- Assist employees with payroll, timekeeping, and expense-related questions
- Process employee travel expenses in accordance with company policies and federal regulations
- Review expense reports for completeness and compliance
- Resolve expense discrepancies and support timely reimbursements
- Review and process vendor invoices for accuracy and approvals
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain organized vendor files and supporting documentation
- Monitor receivables and support collections activities
- Record and reconcile incoming payments and cash activity
- Resolve billing discrepancies and reconcile customer accounts
- Support general ledger activities and reconciliations
- Assist with financial reporting and month-end activities
- Support audits and accounting reviews
- Maintain compliance with company policies and government requirements
- 3+ years of accounting experience
- Experience supporting payroll, AP, AR, expense processing, and general accounting activities
- Experience processing employee travel expenses and supporting expense reporting activities
- Experience reviewing and reconciling expense reports for accuracy and compliance with company policies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently in a small business environment
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Experience in government contracting environments
- Familiarity with FAR, DCAA requirements, or government cost principles
- Experience with Unanet, Deltek Costpoint, QuickBooks, or similar systems
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Experience supporting federal travel regulations and expense processing
