Director of Commissions & Compensation OperationsAbout Carepoint

As we continue our national expansion, we are seeking a Director of Commissions & Compensation Operations to lead commission administration, compensation strategy, financial analysis, and operational oversight across our carrier and agency distribution network.

Position Summary

The Director of Commissions & Compensation Operations is responsible for overseeing all aspects of commission processing, agency compensation, override administration, carrier reconciliation, and compensation analytics across Carepoint's distribution platform.

This role serves as the bridge between Finance, Operations, Carrier Relations, Contracting, and Sales, ensuring accurate and timely compensation for agents, agencies, and distribution partners.

The ideal candidate brings significant experience within an FMO, NMO, carrier distribution organization, MGA, or insurance brokerage environment and possesses a deep understanding of agent hierarchies, commission structures, override schedules, carrier statements, and compensation operations.

Key ResponsibilitiesCommission Operations Leadership
  • Lead all commission and override operations across Medicare, ACA, Life, Supplemental, and Ancillary product lines.

  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of agent, agency, and partner compensation.

  • Oversee commission payment cycles, reconciliations, adjustments, and chargebacks.

  • Maintain compensation policies and operational controls.

Financial Analysis & Reporting
  • Analyze commission revenue, override revenue, profitability, and compensation trends.

  • Develop executive reporting and dashboards for leadership.

  • Identify opportunities to improve compensation efficiency and profitability.

  • Support forecasting and budgeting initiatives.

Carrier Reconciliation
  • Review and reconcile carrier commission statements.

  • Investigate discrepancies and coordinate resolution with carrier partners.

  • Ensure accurate mapping of carrier payments to agency compensation structures.

  • Monitor commission receivables and revenue recognition activities.

Agency Compensation Management
  • Maintain agent and agency hierarchy structures.

  • Manage override schedules and compensation agreements.

  • Partner with Sales leadership on compensation strategy and special compensation arrangements.

  • Ensure accurate implementation of new compensation programs.

Process Improvement & Systems
  • Lead initiatives to improve automation, reporting, and commission processing efficiency.

  • Collaborate with Business Intelligence and Operations teams on system enhancements.

  • Maintain data integrity across commission and compensation platforms.

  • Develop scalable processes to support continued organizational growth.

Leadership & Collaboration
  • Manage and develop commission operations personnel.

  • Partner closely with Finance, Contracting, Agency Services, Carrier Relations, and Executive Leadership.

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for all commission and compensation matters.

QualificationsRequired
  • 5+ years of experience in insurance commission operations, compensation administration, or distribution finance.

  • Prior experience within an FMO, NMO, carrier, MGA, brokerage, or insurance distribution organization.

  • Strong understanding of agent hierarchies, override structures, commission statements, and carrier compensation models.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

  • Experience with commission systems, reporting tools, and data analysis.

Preferred
  • Medicare Advantage, ACA, Medicare Supplement, PDP, Life, and Ancillary product experience.

  • Experience with large-scale agency distribution models.

  • Experience with Salesforce, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or commission management systems.

  • Leadership experience managing commission or financial operations teams.
