Compliance Operations & Data Specialist

About NYJTL

For over fifty years, New York Junior Tennis & Learning (NYJTL) has honored its founder Arthur Ashe’s legacy by celebrating the diversity of children, encouraging them to reach their highest potential through free tennis and academic programs. NYJTL is the largest provider of youth tennis and education programs in the nation, providing services in 100 unique sites across all five boroughs while reaching nearly 90,000 kids. In addition, NYJTL designed, funded (with NYC), built and operates the Cary Leeds Center for Tennis & Learning in the South Bronx. All NYJTL community tennis and after school programs are offered at no cost to its participants.

Position Summary

The Compliance Data & Systems Specialist supports the Talent Acquisition & Compliance department by managing data, spreadsheets, staff records, reports, and internal systems.

The position is responsible for maintaining accurate information, identifying data gaps, tracking staff compliance requirements, and improving reporting and workflow processes. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, analytical, and skilled in Excel and data management systems. This position reports directly to the Manager of Talent Acquisition and Compliance.

Core Responsibilities

A. Data and Systems

    Manage spreadsheets, trackers, databases, and staff records.Organize, clean, reconcile, and validate data across multiple systems.Maintain and review employee and applicant information in ADP and other systems.Identify missing, duplicate, inaccurate, or overdue information.Prepare reports, dashboards, and status updates.Use Excel formulas, lookups, PivotTables, filters, and other tools to manage large data sets.Improve tracking tools, reporting templates, and workflow processes.Maintain organized electronic and physical records.

B. Compliance Operations

    Track staff clearances, background checks, onboarding documents, certifications, and deadlines.Follow up with teams regarding missing or pending requirements.Support compliance submissions, audits, licensing visits, renewals, and internal reviews.Escalate incomplete or at-risk compliance items to the manager.Participate in site visits as needed.Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred. 1–3 years of experience in compliance, operations, data tracking, administration, onboarding, HR, or a related field preferred. Strong Excel skills required, including comfort with sorting, filtering, formulas, data cleanup, and tracking large amounts of information. Ability to learn new systems, databases, and internal platforms quickly. Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify patterns, gaps, errors, and follow-up needs in data. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and moving pieces at once. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with reporting, dashboards, spreadsheets, or data tracking tools. Experience working with staff records, compliance tracking, clearance processes, or onboarding systems. Familiarity with HRIS, applicant tracking systems, compliance databases, or internal tracking platforms. Comfort using technology to improve workflow, reduce manual tracking, and organize information. Experience in an education, after-school, nonprofit, youth-serving, HR, or compliance environment.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

    This position is primarily performed in an office setting and requires frequent use of a computer, phone, and other standard office equipment.Travel to program sites, agency offices, or related meetings may be required.Must be able to manage multiple responsibilities in a deadline-driven environment.
