This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Legal Expert — Finance & Real Estate (Project Donna) based in Canada.
This is a fully remote contract opportunity for an experienced legal professional specializing in finance and real estate.
You will contribute your expertise to a human-preference study focused on evaluating AI-generated legal work products.
The engagement involves reviewing realistic legal matters and assessing multiple AI-generated deliverables against a common comparator.
You will provide clear, specific reasoning behind your preferences, helping assess the quality and practical usefulness of AI-assisted legal work.
The scope covers sophisticated matters including secured lending, project finance, RMBS, commercial leasing, and mixed-use development.
The role is designed for lawyers who can evaluate legal work holistically, balancing correctness, completeness, judgment, and practical value.
With approximately 30 hours of work, the engagement offers flexible scheduling and the opportunity to contribute directly to the development of advanced AI systems for legal applications.
- Review synthetic legal matters and their underlying documentation, developing a clear understanding of the relevant legal and commercial context.
- Evaluate six blinded AI-generated legal deliverables for each matter, assessing their quality, accuracy, completeness, judgment, and practical usefulness.
- Conduct five head-to-head comparisons between AI-generated outputs and a common comparator, identifying which work product you would prefer.
- Provide concise, precise, and well-supported written reasoning for each preference, clearly explaining the factors behind your assessment.
- Apply your substantive expertise across senior secured credit facility markup reviews, project finance credit agreements, RMBS closing exception reviews, tenant-favourable commercial leases, and mixed-use development agreements.
- Work independently according to written instructions and established deadlines while maintaining confidentiality throughout the engagement.
- Qualified lawyer with substantive professional experience in finance and real estate matters, particularly within one or more of the specified practice areas.
- Strong ability to evaluate legal work product holistically, considering legal correctness, completeness, professional judgment, clarity, and usefulness.
- Experience with senior secured credit facilities, project finance credit agreements, RMBS transactions, commercial leases, and/or mixed-use development agreements is highly relevant.
- Excellent written English, with the ability to communicate detailed legal reasoning clearly, precisely, and concisely.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to compare alternative legal approaches and identify meaningful differences in quality.
- Ability to work independently, follow detailed written instructions, meet deadlines, and exercise sound professional judgment.
- Willingness to work under a confidentiality agreement and comply with restrictions prohibiting the use of external AI tools on project materials.
- Fully remote contract opportunity that can be completed on your own schedule.
- Approximately 30 hours of engagement, with projects potentially extended, shortened, or concluded early based on project needs and performance.
- Weekly payments through Stripe or Wise based on services rendered.
