This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Engineering Manager - IT & Security based in United States.
This is a high-impact leadership role overseeing IT, security, and compliance within a fast-moving, fully remote organization. You will lead a small team while shaping the company’s broader security posture, policies, processes, and technical controls. The role spans internal IT operations, security engineering, vulnerability management, compliance audits, and employee support. You will partner closely with Engineering, HR, Recruiting, Finance, and Operations to embed secure and scalable practices across the business. As the organization grows, you will have the opportunity to automate processes, expand the security function, and define its future direction. - Lead, manage, and develop a team of IT specialists and security professionals, providing clear direction, delegation, coaching, and career-development support.
- Own the organization’s internal IT and security operations, including employee support, device management, security processes, and day-to-day technology and security issues.
- Guide the team through compliance audits and certifications while maintaining effective processes for security and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with Operations and other cross-functional teams to manage security questionnaires, customer requirements, and compliance-related requests.
- Develop, implement, and champion company-wide security projects, policies, technical guidelines, procedures, and best practices.
- Advise engineering teams on secure coding practices and help design, deploy, and maintain cloud security controls.
- Manage security incidents, vulnerability assessments, testing, remediation, and risk evaluation across web and mobile applications, cloud infrastructure, and internal networks.
- Identify operational inefficiencies and streamline, scale, and automate manual IT and security processes wherever possible.
- Establish and continuously improve security controls, processes, and governance as the organization evolves.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders to define the future security operating model and help build a dedicated security function over time.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 4 years of experience across IT and security, including a minimum of 1 year managing people.
- Proven experience developing technical security guidelines, policies, and processes across multiple teams.
- Strong knowledge of security best practices, standards, frameworks, and risk-management principles.
- Experience leading or supporting security and compliance programs in a technology-driven organization.
- Excellent organizational, written, verbal, and cross-functional communication skills.
- A service-oriented mindset with patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others solve technical and security problems.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-changing environment, learn new technologies quickly, and work confidently through ambiguity.
- Strong initiative and judgment, including the ability to identify inefficiencies, raise concerns, and ask for support when needed.
- Experience managing audits or certifications such as ISO 27001:2022 and SOC 2 is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of data residency requirements, GDPR, and related privacy or regulatory considerations is a plus.
- Experience with offensive security engagements, vulnerability testing, static code analysis, or fuzz testing is advantageous.
- Familiarity with security communities or open-source security projects is a plus.
- Experience securing AWS environments and working with tools such as Inspector, Detective, GuardDuty, and WAF is highly desirable.
- Fully remote position available to candidates located within the United States.
- Competitive base salary range of $195,000–$220,000, depending on location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
- Eligibility for a corporate performance bonus of up to 30%.
