Data Center Network Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Data Center Network Engineer based in the United States.

This is a hands-on, customer-facing networking role focused on designing and deploying advanced data center infrastructure.
You will architect high-performance Ethernet solutions supporting AI factories, accelerated computing, and enterprise-scale workloads.
The role combines deep technical expertise with direct customer engagement throughout the design, validation, and deployment lifecycle.
You will work closely with infrastructure, engineering, and cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and high-performing network architectures.
A key part of the position involves modernizing network operations through automation, DevOps practices, and efficient provisioning workflows.
You will also influence technology adoption by sharing field insights and helping shape technical strategies and solutions.
This is an opportunity to work on complex global projects at the intersection of networking, AI, automation, and next-generation data center technology.

Accountabilities:
  • Network Architecture: Plan, design, architect, and validate advanced Ethernet networks for AI factories, accelerated computing environments, and enterprise data centers.
  • Customer Engagement: Provide expert networking guidance throughout the customer lifecycle, from requirements gathering and architecture design through testing, deployment, and operational handover.
  • Data Center Fabrics: Design, implement, and troubleshoot modern Layer 2/Layer 3 architectures, including VXLAN-EVPN-based data center fabrics.
  • Infrastructure Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams supporting server infrastructure, GPU-accelerated workloads, and AI/ML deployments to ensure integrated and reliable solutions.
  • Automation & DevOps: Evaluate and implement network automation solutions using tools such as Ansible, Salt, or Puppet, including configuration templates, deployment pipelines, and switch provisioning.
  • Testing & Validation: Lead or support customer design workshops, lab simulations, testing cycles, and Proofs of Concept to validate network architectures before deployment.
  • Implementation: Deploy and validate network solutions within customer data centers, ensuring scalability, reliability, performance, and operational readiness.
  • Knowledge Transfer: Deliver technical training and knowledge-transfer sessions, create clear documentation, and support deployment handovers to customer teams.
  • Technical Strategy: Identify opportunities to improve technology adoption and operational excellence, providing actionable feedback to engineering and product teams based on customer needs and field experience.
  • Independent Execution: Manage priorities effectively, work autonomously, and proactively identify opportunities to improve customer outcomes and network operations.
Requirements:
  • Professional Experience: 7+ years of hands-on networking experience, including strong knowledge of Layer 2/Layer 3 networking, Ethernet switching, TCP/IP, and data center architectures.
  • Data Center Networking: Proven experience designing and troubleshooting modern data center networks, with strong hands-on expertise in VXLAN-EVPN fabrics.
  • Customer-Facing Expertise: Demonstrated ability to work directly with customers, understand technical requirements, design next-generation architectures, and validate solutions through laboratory testing or Proofs of Concept.
  • Automation: Proficiency with network automation and configuration-management technologies such as Ansible, Salt, or Puppet.
  • Technical Problem Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities, with the capacity to work independently, prioritize competing requirements, and drive operational excellence.
  • Communication: Excellent customer-facing communication skills, including the ability to explain complex networking concepts, conduct technical workshops, and deliver knowledge-transfer sessions.
  • Documentation: Experience creating technical documentation and supporting deployment, operational handover, and customer enablement activities.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Certifications: CCNP or an equivalent networking certification is a plus.
  • Preferred Technical Expertise: Experience with Linux administration or engineering, Cumulus Linux/Cumulus OS, InfiniBand networking, or advanced networking certifications such as CCIE, JNCIE, or ACE-E, particularly with a data center focus.
  • Mindset: Strong combination of deep technical networking expertise, customer orientation, adaptability, ownership, and a continuous-improvement mindset.
Benefits:
  • Work Model: Fully remote, globally distributed work environment.
  • Schedule Flexibility: Multiple shift options are available, including Thursday–Monday, Wednesday–Sunday, and Monday–Thursday schedules.
  • Career Growth: Opportunities to work on complex, high-impact technology projects involving AI, accelerated computing, data centers, and advanced networking.
  • Learning & Development: Exposure to emerging networking technologies, automation, AI infrastructure, and opportunities to expand technical expertise.
  • Global Collaboration: Work with international customers and cross-functional technology teams on large-scale projects.
  • Innovation: Opportunity to contribute technical insights that influence engineering, product strategy, and technology adoption.
  • Professional Environment: Collaborative culture focused on innovation, technical excellence, continuous learning, and career development.
  • Equal Opportunity: Commitment to an inclusive workplace where employment decisions are based on business needs, role requirements, and individual qualifications.
