Utilities Senior Project Manager

Hybrid | Full-Time

Manalapan, NJ

About Us
At Milrose Consultants Company, LLC, we build more than buildings—we build trust, expertise, and lasting partnerships. As leaders in nationwide permitting and construction compliance, we’re proud to help shape the skylines of tomorrow through excellence in planning, approvals, and project execution.

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Utilities Senior Project Manager to join our Project Delivery team. In this role, you will lead utility service initiation, coordination, and execution across a diverse portfolio of complex projects. You will collaborate closely with utility providers, clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless utility service installations, infrastructure coordination, and accurate documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and solution-oriented, with demonstrated experience working with electric, gas, water, sewer, and telecommunications providers. This role requires a strong understanding of utility company processes, permitting requirements, service installation coordination, and project management best practices. The successful candidate must be able to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment while balancing competing priorities, meeting critical deadlines, and maintaining a high level of attention to detail.

Success in this role is driven by exceptional communication skills and a commitment to keeping clients, contractors, utility representatives, and internal teams informed at every stage of the project. The ability to anticipate challenges, proactively drive solutions, provide timely updates, and communicate progress before stakeholders need to ask is critical to delivering an outstanding client experience and ensuring project success.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as the primary communication hub for all assigned projects:
    • Providing proactive status updates to the Manager, internal Project Management team, and clients on a daily and weekly cadence
    • Escalating issues before they become delays
    • Ensuring no stakeholder is left waiting for critical information
  • Serve as a direct point of contact for clients, bringing professionalism, responsiveness, care, and strong interpersonal communication skills to every interaction; maintain and strengthen client relationships through consistent communication, reliable follow-through, and a service-first, solutions-oriented mindset
  • Demonstrate flexibility in meeting client demands within a high-volume, deadline-driven environment
  • Obtain and review utility design drawings, service agreements, easements, and cost estimates
  • Prepare utility applications, initiate service orders, and request Load Letters from the Engineer of Record (EOR) / Architect of Record (AOR)
  • Coordinate with electric, gas, water, sewer, and telecommunications providers to establish, modify, relocate, or remove utility services
  • Review, coordinate, and markup site utility plans, plumbing, and electrical drawings; confirm number and type of water connections (fire, domestic, irrigation, etc.)
  • Submit applications, load letters, utility site plans, and applicable plumbing/electrical sheets to gas and electric utilities; include Google Earth exhibit for site identification; submit water and sewer applications and utility site plan only unless otherwise requested
  • Assist with permit acquisition and jurisdictional approvals as they relate to utility work, ensuring compliance with local requirements
  • Follow up with utility companies regarding engineer assignments, invoices, easements, client signatures, required documentation, and client payments as needed
  • Coordinate on-site meetings with utilities, clients, and contractors; confirm service sources and provide the project team with a comprehensive service outline, including source, type, special conditions, cost, redlines, installation responsibility, and technical requirements
  • Coordinate utility infrastructure and contractor responsibilities to bring electric, water, gas, sewer, and telecommunications services to project sites
  • Monitor project milestones and proactively identify potential schedule impacts or utility-related delays, taking corrective action and escalating issues when necessary
  • Participate in project meetings and provide utility coordination expertise throughout the project lifecycle, contributing to planning, decision-making, and execution strategy
  • Track inspection progress and coordinate installation schedules, including meter set coordination with applicable utilities
  • Coordinate utility account transfers, billing changes, and service activations/deactivations to ensure accurate and timely service setup
  • Provide project teams with account numbers, meter numbers, and utility transfer information to ensure accurate billing setup
  • Maintain detailed project records and provide regular, structured status updates to clients and internal management teams
  • Prepare comprehensive utility reports for Director review prior to client submission

Note: In some instances, this role may be assigned permit/approval project management responsibilities; in those cases, standard Milrose project manager duties apply

What You’ll Bring

  • Required:
    • Strong, proactive communication skills - both written and verbal - with a demonstrated ability to keep clients and stakeholders informed before they ask for updates, set clear expectations, and communicate delays or issues before they escalate
    • Strong initiative and a genuine desire to learn: this role requires someone who takes ownership, digs in independently, and actively builds expertise in an evolving field
    • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with ability to multitask
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across internal departments
    • Experience reading and comprehending engineered drawings
    • Ability to research, interpret, and navigate municipal utility portals and websites
    • Bachelor’s degree or 5 years of comparable experience
    • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and Adobe Acrobat
  • Preferred:
    • Experience in utility coordination, construction utilities, or infrastructure project support
    • Familiarity with municipal utility processes and service connection workflows

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Standard working hours are Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.

Travel

  • Travel to client sites or municipal agencies as required
  • Attendance at meetings may be required at management discretion or based on project needs

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $90,000 – $100,000 annually, based on knowledge, skills, and experience
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plus 401K plan with a match
  • Paid time off: holidays, vacation, sick, personal, and birthday
  • Cell phone stipend and commuter benefits
  • Career development and advancement opportunities
