This role offers the opportunity to combine deep technical expertise with consultative selling in a customer-facing solutions engineering environment. You will partner with sales teams to help organizations understand how modern identity and access technologies can address complex security and business challenges. The position involves designing and delivering tailored product demonstrations, technical presentations, and proofs of concept for a diverse range of stakeholders. You will engage with audiences ranging from developers and product leaders to senior executives, translating complex technical concepts into clear business value. The role also provides opportunities to influence product development, share technical best practices, and contribute to industry events. Success requires strong IAM knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to connect technology solutions with customer outcomes.
- Partner with Corporate/New Business sales teams serving organizations with approximately 300–1,249 employees, acting as the technical and domain expert throughout the sales cycle.
- Understand customer challenges, business objectives, and technical requirements, then position solutions that directly address their needs.
- Plan and deliver compelling product demonstrations, technical presentations, and customized solution experiences for technical and executive audiences.
- Answer product, architecture, and technical questions from customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Design and manage Proof of Concepts for complex customer use cases, collaborating with engineering and other technical teams when required.
- Provide actionable feedback to product management regarding customer needs, product enhancements, and opportunities to increase solution value.
- Share reusable technical assets, demonstrations, and best practices with the broader Solutions Engineering team to improve quality and efficiency.
- Maintain strong awareness of competitive products, market trends, and differentiation opportunities.
- Support executive briefings, conferences, user groups, trade shows, and other customer-facing marketing events.
- Build territory strategy and pipeline in partnership with sales counterparts while contributing to quarterly and annual revenue objectives.
- Create clear user journey flows, architecture diagrams, and other visual materials to communicate complex technical solutions.
- Develop subject-matter expertise across relevant products and competitive technologies and share that knowledge with colleagues.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of pre-sales engineering experience with a strong focus on Identity and Access Management.
- Deep understanding of IAM concepts and standards, including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, lifecycle management, role-based access control, and provisioning/deprovisioning.
- Hands-on development experience in one or more areas such as web development, mobile development, backend engineering, or IP-based real-time communications.
- Experience with technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, frontend frameworks, Java, C#, Node.js, Python, PHP, Ruby, iOS, or Android.
- Strong experience working with REST APIs, API gateways, SDKs, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, or Vercel.
- Understanding of application security principles, including password hashing, SSL/TLS, encryption at rest, XSS, and XSRF.
- Proven customer-facing experience, ideally in pre-sales engineering, consulting, or technical support.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly through presentations, discussions, and on-the-fly whiteboarding.
- Confidence engaging with highly technical audiences as well as senior business and executive stakeholders.
- Experience managing a territory, building pipeline, and collaborating closely with sales teams to execute opportunities successfully.
- Strong diagramming skills for user journeys, system architectures, integrations, and other complex technical concepts.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a comparable discipline is preferred.
- Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time.
- Experience with Auth0, Auth0 FGA, or OpenFGA is a plus.
- Experience with Generative AI or LLM technologies such as LangChain, GenKit, or LlamaIndex is advantageous.
- Experience integrating microservices, data lakes, or customer data platforms is a plus.
- Knowledge of Relationship-Based Access Control (ReBAC) or fine-grained authorization models is beneficial.
Benefits:
- Annual On-Target Earnings of $160,000–$220,000 USD for candidates located in California excluding the San Francisco Bay Area, Colorado, Illinois, New York, and Washington.
