Job Description

Are you a driven professional looking for an excellent opportunity to advance your career? This position has a critical role in the accounting department, works closely with the Senior Director of Reporting, and the right person will be empowered with meaningful responsibilities and the autonomy to make an impact. As an equipment leasing company, our fixed assets and related lease accounting are core to our business of renting and leasing transportation equipment. This position is responsible for these core accounting tasks and those detailed below. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who fosters team development, builds strong cross-functional partnerships, and continuously drives improvements in systems, processes, and financial practices.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop a team of senior accountants, fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
  • Integrate accounting expertise with operational and strategic objects, proactively identifying risks, challenges, and opportunities that may impact the business, to drive business value.
  • Connects financial processes, systems, and business objectives to identify downstream impacts, exercise sound judgment in complex situations, and deliver accurate, consistent, and business focused financial solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency, and enhance accuracy across accounting operations.
  • Lead or support implementation of system enhancements and workflow improvements.
  • Lead and support the annual budgeting, periodic forecasting, and long-range planning processes in partnership with operational leadership.
  • Analyze monthly financial and operational results, explain variances to budget and forecast, and provide actionable recommendations to management.
  • Develop financial models and performance metrics to support strategic decision-making, capital investment analysis, and business improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare management reporting and KPI analyses that communicate business performance, risks, and opportunities to leadership.
  • Assist with cash flow forecasting, working capital analysis, and other FP&A activities as needed.
  • Develop, refine, and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
  • Takes initiative in leading close, team, and cross-functional meetings, driving accountability, collaboration, and timely execution of key objectives.
  • Initiate wires and record new/used cap-ex purchases in compliance with the Fixed Asset policy.
  • Serve as the finance liaison with operational personnel for questions related to equipment on fixed assets and Branch OPEX.
  • Prepare monthly entries and maintain accounting records for MIH (Investment Company).
  • Prepare account reconciliations, allocations, and adjustments as needed.
  • Prepare monthly trend reports and research significant variances.
  • Identify and post journal entries.
  • Assist with internal and external audits.
  • Special projects including analysis and ad hoc reports.
  • Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience working directly in Accounting or Finance
  • Robust Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent follow-up skills
  • Willing to work later than scheduled hours during peak times.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Navision a plus
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA is a plus but not required.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasional travel required.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
