Job Description
DSRT SURF isn't a traditional workplace, and we're not looking for traditional people.
We're building a fast growing hospitality and lifestyle brand where surf culture, guest experience, and high performance come together in a unique way. We're looking for people who thrive in energetic environments, take pride in their work, and want to help build something special from the ground up.
This is a fully on-site role in Palm Desert, California.
What You'll Do
The Assistant Director of Facilities supports the Director of Facilities in maintaining, repairing, and improving all physical assets across the property, from the surf lagoon and mechanical systems to guest-facing spaces and back-of-house infrastructure. This role is equal parts hands-on and organizational: you're expected to jump into a repair when needed, and you're expected to run the project calendar that keeps every vendor, contractor, and maintenance initiative on schedule.
- Manage facilities project timelines, from small repair tickets to larger capital improvement projects, ensuring deadlines are met and stakeholders are informed
- Coordinate and track vendor and contractor schedules, scopes of work, and deliverables
- Perform and oversee preventive maintenance across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and pool/lagoon systems
- Get hands-on with repairs and troubleshooting when the situation calls for it, not just delegate
- Maintain facilities documentation, including maintenance logs, warranty records, and inspection schedules
- Partner with the Director of Facilities to prioritize work orders and allocate resources
- Support budget tracking for facilities projects and supply/parts ordering
- Ensure compliance with safety codes, health department standards, and OSHA requirements
- Step in to lead facilities operations in the Director's absence
What You Bring
- 3+ years of facilities, maintenance, or building operations experience, ideally in hospitality, resort, aquatics, or similar high-traffic environments
- Demonstrated project management skills, including managing multiple deadlines and vendor relationships simultaneously
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or pool/water systems
- Comfort moving between a laptop and a toolbox in the same day
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize competing priorities under pressure
Current Work EnvironmentDSRT SURF is in an active opening and growth phase. Priorities shift quickly, systems are still being built, and this role will help shape facilities operations as the property scales. Team members may occasionally work around changing operational priorities, evolving business needs, events, and active hospitality environments. Appropriate attire and adherence to all company standards and policies will be required while representing the brand.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work outdoors in desert conditions, climb ladders, and stand or walk for extended periods.
- Must be comfortable working near and occasionally in water.
- Ability to work in and around water environments for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift, move, or carry safety equipment and operational materials
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and temperature conditions
Compensation
This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position. The anticipated salary for this role is $85,000 - $95,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, skills, and business needs.
Benefits
- Health insurance
- Paid time off
Schedule Expectations
This is a full-time position with a schedule built around lifeguard coverage needs, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as required.
Why DSRT SURF
This is an opportunity to help build something from the ground up where guest safety and surf culture come together at the highest standard. You'll play a key role on the front line of the lagoon's safety team, with room to grow into broader Water Safety leadership as the brand scales.
