Job Description

AOT Project Director / Court Coordinator

Southern Highlands Community Mental Health Center

Southern Highlands Community Mental Health Center is seeking a qualified and experienced individual to serve as the Project Director / Court Coordinator for our new Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) Program.

What is Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT)?

Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) is a court-ordered, community-based mental health treatment program designed to help individuals with serious mental illness who have difficulty consistently participating in treatment.

The goal of AOT is to help individuals receive the treatment, support, and services they need to remain stable in their communities, reduce psychiatric hospitalizations, and improve their overall quality of life.

The program brings together mental health professionals, the court system, and community partners to coordinate treatment and support individuals in their recovery.

About the Position

The Project Director / Court Coordinator will play a key leadership role in building and establishing Southern Highlands' new AOT Program from the ground up. This includes developing program procedures, establishing relationships with the court system and community partners, coordinating services, and ensuring the program is successfully implemented.

Once established, this individual will oversee the program's daily operations and serve as the primary connection between Southern Highlands, the court system, treatment providers, and community partners.

This position offers an opportunity to help shape a new program that will expand access to community-based behavioral health services for individuals with serious mental illness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, development, implementation, and daily operations of the AOT Program.
  • Develop program procedures, workflows, and processes necessary to establish and operate the new program.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with judges, court personnel, treatment providers, and community organizations.
  • Work closely with the court system to coordinate hearings, required documentation, and communication regarding individuals participating in the program.
  • Help ensure individuals participating in AOT receive coordinated treatment and support services.
  • Supervise program staff and oversee the quality of services provided.
  • Lead the AOT Management Team and Steering Committee.
  • Ensure the program meets the requirements of its federal SAMHSA grant.
  • Oversee program documentation, data collection, reporting, and required deadlines.
  • Monitor program progress, evaluate outcomes, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Help develop plans to sustain the program beyond the initial grant funding.
  • Perform other duties necessary for the successful operation of the program.
  • Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience.
  • Experience working with court systems and grant management.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with courts, treatment providers, community organizations, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, deadlines, and reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of behavioral health services and community-based treatment programs preferred.
  • Join Our Team

If you are an experienced leader who is passionate about behavioral health, community collaboration, and improving access to effective treatment, we encourage you to apply and become part of the team at Southern Highlands Community Mental Health Center.
