CookJob Summary

Imperial Golf Club is seeking an experienced and dependable Cook to join our Culinary Team. This position prepares a variety of high-quality food products, including meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, sauces, and stocks, according to the Club’s standard recipes, daily prep lists, and the direction of Culinary Leadership.

Key Responsibilities & Duties
  • Prepare and cook a variety of foods, including meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, sauces, and stocks.
  • Follow standardized recipes and proper preparation methods, including measuring, weighing, and mixing ingredients.
  • Use a variety of cooking techniques, including baking, grilling, steaming, boiling, broiling, and frying.
  • Set up workstations with required ingredients, supplies, and equipment.
  • Check ingredients and final products for quality and freshness.
  • Present, garnish, and arrange dishes according to Club standards.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely, including broilers, ovens, grills, fryers, and other commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Monitor station inventory levels and communicate supply needs.
  • Properly handle, label, store, and rotate ingredients and prepared foods.
  • Accommodate member and guest special requests and dietary needs as directed.
  • Occasionally assist with serving food as needed.
  • Maintain food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards at all times.
  • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, utensils, and dishes.
  • Follow all opening and closing procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Culinary Leadership.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • One to two years of experience as a line cook, restaurant cook, or prep cook preferred.
  • Private club, resort, hotel, or high-volume restaurant experience preferred.
  • Culinary Arts certificate or related training is a plus.
  • Experience with a variety of cooking methods, equipment, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation standards, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Vacation scheduling may be limited during peak season, with vacations generally encouraged during off-season months.
Work Environment
  • Work is performed in a commercial kitchen environment that may be hot, humid, and noisy.
  • Regular exposure to heat, steam, sharp utensils, hot surfaces, and commercial kitchen equipment.
Certificates & Licenses
  • Food safety certification required or ability to obtain within the timeframe established by the Club.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch, twist, and reach.
  • Ability to push, pull, carry, or lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform continuous and repetitive motions throughout the workday.
  • Ability to safely work around hot surfaces, kitchen equipment, and food preparation areas.
