Laser Operator I – Entry Level/Trainee - Night Shift in Machesney Park, Illinois at HENNIG INC

The Laser Machine Operator – Entry Level is responsible for learning laser cutting operators, safety procedures, quality standards, and production processes. This position works under the guidance of experienced operators to develop the skills required to operate laser cutting equipment and support fabrication operations.

Key Responsibilities:

· Verify material dimensions, part numbers, and job requirements before production.

· Complete production tracking and fabrication documentation accurately and thoroughly.

· Properly use, maintain, and store tools and equipment assigned to the work center.

· Assist with laser cutting and material handling activities under the direction of senior Laser Operators.

· Navigate electronic files and retrieve nesting/program files required for production.

· Enter machine parameters and production data accurately.

· Operate and perform basic troubleshooting on designated laser cutting equipment.

· Develop proficiency in operating the laser machine.

· Use both standard and metric measuring tools accurately to verify dimensions and specifications.

· Maintain a strong commitment to quality, safety, productivity, and continuous improvement.

· Operate power and/or hand tools.

· Demonstrate safe operation and proper use of forklift and crane.

· Follow all safety procedures, quality standards, and work instructions during assembly and installation activities.

Requirements:

· Education: High School Diploma/GED required

· Experience: One year of continuous experience in a manufacturing environment required

· Reading Ability: Must be able to read and understand English

Skills:

· Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and manufacturing documentation.

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.

· Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

· Willingness to learn new equipment, processes, and manufacturing technologies.

· Perform mechanical equipment troubleshooting according to inspection procedures.

· Maintain high-quality output and on-time delivery in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

· Provide flexible support across all production areas as needed.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, lift and/or move up to 40 lbs., bend, use hands, and fingers for 8 + hours. (Overtime may be required)
