Description:
DDC 4C, a subsidiary of Dine Development Corporation, is currently and continually seeking qualified applicants for temporary, on-call, Archaeological Field Technician positions to support a shovel test survey in Oklahoma. Primary duties will include conducting shovel test and pedestrian surveys. Work is anticipated to start by the middle of October and continue through the end of the year.
Successful candidates should be motivated, resourceful, dedicated, and organized, and able to dig 20 – 25 holes per day. All candidates will work under the supervision of a Field Director or Project Director.
Responsibilities:
Technicians are responsible for performing common tasks associated with archaeological investigations and surveys within the project area. These include but are not limited to:
Perform pedestrian survey
Perform shovel test survey
Complete field related paperwork legibly
Assist in technical site documentation
Use of a handheld GPS unit
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field
- Have completed an accredited field school
- Ability to work well in a team-based environment
- Ability to travel to a location, walk and conduct fieldwork for long hours, sometimes in inclement weather, rugged terrain, often at high altitudes, and the ability to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds is required
- Willing to travel overnight for an extended period of time
- Current valid driver's license and a clean driving record
- Must be a US Citizen with the ability to pass a standard background check.
- Years of Experience: (5) months with a range of field methodologies
- Education Level: Bachelor’s
- Familiarity with GPS units and digital data collection is a plus but not required.
- Experience driving a four-wheeled drive vehicle off-road in or on rugged, backcountry roads
