Founded in 1866, The Floating Hospital, is one of the last remaining charity hospitals in New York City. We welcome individuals of all ages, from infants, school-age children (5+), youth and adults. The Floating Hospital is a Federally Qualified Health Center and the largest provider to homeless families living in family shelters and domestic violence safe houses throughout all five boroughs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Patient Care:
- Assist the Optometrist with patient care and eye examinations including (Optical Coherence Tomography) OCT scanning.
- Screen patients and take medical history.
- Administer eyedrops as directed by the Optometrist.
- Provide patient education.
- Assist with scheduling.
- Clean, sanitize, and properly maintain equipment and exam rooms.
- Other duties as assigned.
Schedule:
Monday 8am-6pm
Tuesday 9am-7pm
Wednesday 8am-6pm
Thursday 8am-5pm
Requirements:Prior experience as an Optometric Technician preferred; strong attention to detail required; must be able to multitask; must have experience with EMR software; possess a pleasant demeanor and positive attitude when interacting with patients and staff; bi-lingual Spanish speaking required.

Scanning, Triage, PMH/Vital, Orders, Immunizations/PPD, Telephone Encounters
