Contracting Specialist - U.S. Federal Government Contracting Specialist

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Contracting Specialist - U.S. Federal Government Contracting Specialist based in United States.

We are seeking an experienced contracting professional to support the administration and execution of U.S. federal government contracts in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
This role plays a key part in ensuring contract compliance, supporting proposal activities, and enabling successful delivery of government programs.
The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge of federal contracting regulations, contract lifecycle management, and financial processes.
You will work closely with program management, finance, operations, and subcontracting teams to maintain accurate documentation and support business growth.

Accountabilities:

The Contracting Specialist will manage federal contract administration activities, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and operational efficiency across contract portfolios. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders.

  • Administer U.S. federal prime contracts, task orders, modifications, and related contractual documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, and agency-specific contracting requirements.
  • Support proposal development activities, including pricing analysis, Basis of Estimates (BOEs), cost volumes, and financial reviews.
  • Create and maintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and project setups within accounting or ERP systems.
  • Track contract deliverables, funding status, periods of performance, and contractual obligations.
  • Review and interpret contract terms, providing guidance and compliance recommendations to internal teams.
  • Support subcontract administration activities, including flow-down requirements, subcontract compliance, and execution of subcontract actions.
  • Partner with Program Management, Finance, and Operations teams to coordinate contract requirements and reporting activities.
  • Maintain accurate contract records, documentation, and project information throughout the contract lifecycle.
  • Contribute to process improvements and operational efficiencies within contracting activities.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented contracting professional with hands-on experience supporting U.S. federal government contracts. They should be comfortable working independently, managing multiple priorities, and collaborating across business functions.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • 5+ years of experience in U.S. federal contract administration, subcontract management, or related contracting roles.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. federal contracting processes, including FAR requirements.
  • Experience managing prime contracts, task orders, contract modifications, and compliance documentation.
  • Knowledge of pricing, cost analysis, financial reviews, or proposal development processes.
  • Hands-on experience with Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), project setup, and contract financial tracking.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical, financial, and operational stakeholders.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a remote or small business environment.
  • Experience with DCAA compliance is preferred.
  • Familiarity with contract management or ERP systems such as JAMIS Prime, Costpoint, Unanet, or similar platforms is a plus.
  • Experience supporting government proposals or BOE development is preferred.
