The Director of Human Resources is a key member of the leadership team responsible for leading all Human Resource functions while ensuring the company remains compliant with all applicable employment laws, regulatory requirements, and government reporting obligations.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Human Resources provides strategic leadership and day-to-day management of all Human Resource functions for MAC Medical. This position is responsible for developing and executing Human Resources strategies while overseeing employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, compensation, benefits administration, organizational development, compliance, training, and workforce planning.

The Director serves as the company’s primary Human Resources leader and employment compliance administrator, ensuring all required federal, state, and local employment filings and regulatory requirements are completed accurately and on time. This position partners closely with executive leadership to build a high-performing workforce, strengthen company culture, minimize organizational risk, and support the continued growth of MAC Medical.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Human Resources Leadership

· Direct and manage all Human Resources operations for MAC Medical.

· Develop and execute Human Resources strategies aligned with company objectives.

· Lead continuous improvement initiatives within Human Resources systems and processes.

· Develop, implement, and maintain Human Resource policies, procedures, and the Employee Handbook.

· Maintain employee personnel records while ensuring confidentiality and compliance.

· Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on all Human Resources matters.

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

· Lead all recruiting activities from workforce planning through onboarding.

· Develop recruiting strategies that attract highly qualified manufacturing, engineering, operations, administrative, technical, and leadership talent.

· Manage job postings, applicant screening, interviewing, reference checks, background investigations, offers, and onboarding.

· Build partnerships with colleges, universities, technical schools, workforce agencies, military recruiting organizations, and community organizations.

· Develop succession planning and internal promotion programs.

Employee Relations

· Manage all employee relations activities throughout the organization.

· Coach managers and supervisors on employee performance, documentation, disciplinary actions, investigations, and conflict resolution.

· Conduct workplace investigations while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

· Lead disciplinary meetings, performance improvement plans, employee counseling, and employment separations.

· Promote employee engagement through recognition, communication, leadership development, and retention initiatives.

· Foster a positive workplace culture centered on accountability, teamwork, integrity, and continuous improvement.

Regulatory Compliance & Government Reporting

Serve as the company’s primary administrator for employment compliance by ensuring accurate and timely completion of all required filings, reporting, and documentation, including but not limited to:

· Federal, State, and Local Employment Law Compliance

· Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)

· OSHA recordkeeping and reporting

· I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification

· E-Verify administration (if applicable)

· Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)

· Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

· Workers’ Compensation administration

· Unemployment claims management

· Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)

· COBRA administration

· Affordable Care Act (ACA) reporting

· Benefits compliance

· Illinois employment law compliance

· Affirmative Action requirements (when applicable)

· Required labor postings

· Government audits and agency inquiries

· HR record retention requirements

Maintain current knowledge of changing employment regulations and implement necessary policy and procedural updates to ensure continued compliance.

Medical Device Regulatory Compliance

Work closely with Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, and Operations leadership to support MAC Medical’s regulated manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities include:

· Maintain working knowledge of FDA 21 CFR Part 820 Quality System Regulation requirements.

· Maintain working knowledge of ISO 13485 Medical Device Quality Management System requirements.

· Ensure employee competency, training, and qualification records support FDA and ISO compliance requirements.

· Coordinate employee training documentation and competency evaluations required under the Quality Management System.

· Support FDA inspections, ISO certification audits, customer audits, and regulatory assessments by providing Human Resources documentation and records.

· Ensure onboarding, job descriptions, employee qualifications, and training programs support Quality Management System requirements.

· Partner with Quality Assurance to ensure employee competency and training programs remain compliant with regulatory requirements.

· Maintain employee training documentation in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).

Compensation & Benefits

· Administer company compensation and benefit programs.

· Analyze market compensation to maintain competitive wage and salary structures.

· Coordinate annual compensation reviews.

· Manage employee benefit programs including health insurance, retirement plans, disability insurance, life insurance, paid time off, and wellness initiatives.

· Work with benefit providers and brokers to maximize employee value while controlling company costs.

Performance Management & Organizational Development

· Lead company performance management processes.

· Assist department leaders with workforce planning and organizational design.

· Develop leadership development programs.

· Coordinate annual performance evaluations.

· Promote employee growth through training and career development initiatives.

HR Administration

· Oversee onboarding, orientation, and offboarding activities.

· Maintain accurate Human Resources records and HRIS data.

· Develop Human Resources metrics and reports for executive leadership.

· Maintain strict confidentiality of employee and company information.

· Support payroll administration as required.

Leadership Responsibilities

· Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to executive leadership.

· Recommend organizational improvements that strengthen company culture and employee engagement.

· Support strategic planning initiatives related to workforce development.

· Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

· Comprehensive knowledge of all Human Resource functions.

· Extensive knowledge of Federal and Illinois employment laws.

· Strong knowledge of OSHA, FMLA, ADA, COBRA, ACA, FLSA, Workers’ Compensation, unemployment, and employment compliance requirements.

· Working knowledge of FDA 21 CFR Part 820 Quality System Regulation.

· Working knowledge of ISO 13485 Medical Device Quality Management Systems.

· Understanding of Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and regulated manufacturing environments.

· Experience supporting FDA inspections, ISO audits, and regulatory compliance activities preferred.

· Proven success in recruiting and talent acquisition.

· Strong employee relations, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.

· Excellent investigative and documentation skills.

· Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

· High degree of professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity.

· Excellent organizational, analytical, and project management skills.

· Ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.

· Strong Microsoft Office and HRIS proficiency.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.

· SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.

· Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive Human Resources leadership experience.

· Manufacturing experience required; medical device manufacturing experience preferred.

· Experience managing employment compliance, regulatory reporting, and government filings required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

Directly supervises Human Resources personnel and is responsible for the overall administration and execution of all Human Resources functions for MAC Medical.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position operates in both a professional office environment and a medical device manufacturing facility. Regular interaction with production, engineering, quality, warehouse, and administrative personnel is required. Exposure to manufacturing equipment, welding operations, fabrication activities, noise, dust, and temperature variations may occur.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee must regularly communicate, walk throughout the facility, sit, stand, bend, reach, and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds while performing the essential functions of this position.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

Full-time, exempt position. Standard work schedule is Monday through Friday; however, additional evening or weekend hours may be required to support business operations.
