New Avenues to Independence (NATI) is a mission-driven nonprofit serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities for more than 70 years. We are seeking a Recruiter & Onboarding Specialist to lead recruiting and onboarding efforts while delivering an exceptional candidate and hiring manager experience.
Position Summary
The Recruiter & Onboarding Specialist manages the full recruitment lifecycle from workforce planning through onboarding. This position partners with hiring managers to develop recruitment strategies, create job postings, source candidates, conduct prescreens, coordinate interviews, prepare offers, manage background checks, and ensure a seamless onboarding experience.
Essential Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition
- Serve as NATI's primary internal recruitment and onboarding resource for all positions.
- Lead full-cycle recruitment with a primary focus on high-volume Direct Support Professional (DSP) hiring.
- Recruit for professional, administrative, and non-direct care positions as organizational needs require.
- Partner with hiring managers to prioritize openings and develop recruitment strategies.
- Proactively follow up with hiring managers to confirm open positions, track shifting priorities, and keep the hiring process on schedule.
- Create and maintain job descriptions and engaging job postings.
- Coordinate internal job postings, employee transfers, promotions, and other internal employment opportunities.
- Prepare employment offer letters and coordinate the offer process for all positions.
- Manage job postings across Paylocity, Indeed, social media, and other recruiting platforms.
- Source qualified candidates using job boards, networking, referrals, community partnerships, and recruiting events.
- Review applications, conduct phone screens and candidate prescreens, and evaluate qualifications.
- Coordinate interviews and maintain communication throughout the hiring process.
- Prepare offer letters and coordinate pre-employment activities including background checks and references.
- Track recruiting metrics and identify opportunities to improve hiring efficiency and candidate quality.
Onboarding
- Coordinate onboarding from offer acceptance through new hire orientation.
- Prepare offer letters, onboarding packets, and employment documentation.
- Ensure all required employment paperwork is completed accurately and timely.
- Organize orientation schedules and communicate onboarding requirements.
- Coordinate with department leaders to ensure employees have system access, equipment, and resources before their first day.
- Maintain employee records within Paylocity and other HR systems.
- Follow up with new hires to support successful onboarding and retention.
Collaboration & HR Support
- Develop strong partnerships with hiring managers and department leaders.
- Provide outstanding customer service to candidates and employees.
- Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive information.
- Support HR initiatives, recruitment events, and special projects.
- Serve as a backup facilitator for New Employee Orientation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in recruiting, talent acquisition, and onboarding.
- Experience managing high-volume, full-cycle recruitment.
- Experience using an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and HRIS; Paylocity experience preferred.
- Strong sourcing, interviewing, screening, and candidate assessment skills.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to prioritize competing demands.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment where priorities frequently shift.
- Able to keep multiple recruiting initiatives organized while helping hiring managers stay on track throughout the hiring process.
- Proactive in following up with stakeholders to ensure hiring needs, timelines, and priorities remain current.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams).
Preferred Qualifications
- Nonprofit, behavioral health, social services, or DSP recruiting experience.
- Experience with high-volume hourly recruiting.
- Knowledge of employment laws and recruitment best practices.
- Experience with Paylocity Recruiting and Onboarding.
