Position Title: K-12 Physical Education Teacher/Assistant Athletic Director
Location: Campus

Reports To: Middle and High School Principal/Athletic Director
Job Summary:
As a K-12 Physical Education Teacher/Assistant Athletic Director, you will be responsible for providing engaging and developmentally appropriate physical education instruction to elementary through middle and high school students. You will also work closely with the Athletic Director to support the growth and success of our athletic programs. Your goal is to foster a positive and inclusive environment, promote physical fitness, and instill a lifelong appreciation for health and well-being.

Key Responsibilities: K-12 Physical Education Teacher
1) Curriculum Development:
- Plan, develop, and implement age-appropriate physical education curriculum for elementary and middle/high school students.
- Create and execute engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and educational goals.
- Instruct students on various physical activities, sports, and fitness exercises to enhance motor skills and overall physical well-being.
- Create and deliver dynamic lesson plans and teaching materials that align with PE curriculum standards.
- Adapt instructional methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities within various grade levels.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate physical education into interdisciplinary units.
- Incorporate technology and educational resources to enhance classroom experiences.
2) Classroom Management:
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect, and encourages active learning.
- Ensure the safety of students during physical education activities and implement emergency procedures as needed.
- Implement effective behavior management strategies and promote positive classroom conduct.
- Cultivate an atmosphere of inquiry and exploration.
3) Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
- Assess and evaluate students' physical abilities, monitor progress, and provide constructive feedback.
- Regularly assess student progress through various methods, including exams, projects, and class participation.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate results to parents and guardians.
- Collaborate with colleagues and school administrators to review and analyze student data.
4) Parent and Guardian Engagement:
- Foster open and effective communication with parents and guardians to discuss students' academic and fitness progress.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school events.
- Contribute to building a collaborative home-school partnership.
- Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and administrators regarding students' progress and program initiatives.
5) Professional Development:
- Stay current with PE research, teaching methodologies, best practices, and advancements in the field.
- Attend professional development sessions, workshops, and conferences as necessary.
- Collaborate with fellow educators to share best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
6) Extracurricular Activities:
- Organize and oversee extracurricular activities, such as sports clubs, intramural sports, or fitness programs.
- Encourage and support students' participation in health and fitness-related extracurricular activities.
- Provide mentorship to students interested in furthering their health and fitness knowledge.
Key Responsibilities: Assistant Athletic Director
1) Administrative Support:
- Assist in the athletic department's day-to-day operations, including scheduling, facilities management, and equipment coordination.
- Collaborate with the Athletic Director to develop and implement departmental policies.
2) Event Coordination:
- Coordinate logistics for middle and high school athletic events, ensuring smooth execution.
- Work with coaches to schedule team practices, games, and transportation.
3) Student-Athlete Support:
- Provide guidance and support to student-athletes, promoting academic success and personal development.
- Assist in organizing academic support services for student-athletes.
4) Coaching Assistance:
- Collaborate with coaches on practice planning, skill development, and team dynamics.
- Support coaches in implementing effective coaching strategies.
5) Recruitment and Development:
- Assist in the recruitment of student-athletes, working to attract and retain talent.
- Facilitate programs to develop leadership and sportsmanship skills among student-athletes.
6) Compliance and Reporting:
- Stay informed about and ensure compliance with applicable athletic association rules and regulations.
- Assist in preparing reports related to compliance and program performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in physical education, sports administration, or related field required.
- Appropriate state teaching certification or licensure, or willingness to obtain, required.
- CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain, required.
- Prior teaching experience at any grade level, preferably in PE, preferred.
- Previous experience in coaching/athletic administration and leadership preferably in a school setting.
- Strong knowledge of child development, motor skills, and physical fitness.
- Enthusiasm for promoting healthy lifestyles and wellness.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Dedication to creating an intellectually stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
- Proficiency in educational technology for instructional purposes.
- Classroom management skills and effective behavior intervention strategies.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and growth.
- Knowledge of state and league regulations related to high school sports.
- Strong understanding of Christian values and the ability to integrate them into the athletic program.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Willing to engage in professional development training as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- The ability to stand, sit, move around the classroom for extended periods, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
- Lifting, bending, and carrying classroom materials and supplies.
- Operate a computer and other office machinery such as a copy machine.
- Effective communication, both verbal and written, and listen regularly.
