The Town of Palm Beach Par 3 Golf Course is just one part of our vibrant Recreation Department, which includes the Morton and Barbara Mandel Recreation Center—home to a fitness center, athletic fieldhouse, café, game room, and multipurpose rooms. Seaview Park offers seven clay tennis courts, a popular playground, an athletic field, and a welcoming front lawn for special events. Additionally, Phipps Ocean Park features six clay tennis courts and two pickleball courts, while the Town of Palm Beach Marina, opened in December 2021, adds to the array of recreational amenities. This is a high-level, technical leadership position responsible for the comprehensive management of the golf course ecosystem, facilities, and maintenance operations. The Golf Course Superintendent serves as the primary steward of the property’s most valuable physical asset, balancing elite playing conditions with environmental sustainability and fiscal responsibility.

The role requires an innovative leader who can integrate AI-driven agronomy, autonomous fleet management, and advanced irrigation technologies into daily operations. Reporting to the Director of Recreation, the Superintendent exercises considerable independent judgment in strategic planning, labor optimization, and the execution of complex capital projects.


  • Provides day-to-day leadership for the golf course maintenance team as well as contracted workers, including supervision, coaching, performance management, and professional development. Creates a positive, respectful work environment where employees are motivated, skilled, and proud of the course they maintain.
  • Performs and/or meticulously oversees the application of pesticides and fertilizers; possesses the technical skill to calibrate complex spray equipment and interpret specialized application charts.
  • Actively research and evaluate emerging golf technologies (AI, Robotics) to create a multi-year "Tech Integration" plan
  • Lead the full-scale implementation and oversight of robotic mowing systems and autonomous utility vehicles, optimizing their routes and schedules through AI-driven software.
  • Utilize AI-powered platforms to analyze historical weather data, soil sensor outputs, and satellite/drone imagery to predict disease outbreaks and pest pressure before they occur, focusing on proactive care.
  • Oversee "smart" irrigation and chemical application systems that use real-time data to apply inputs only where and when needed, significantly reducing water and fertilizer waste.
  • Use TurfRad, GPS-mapping, and drone-based multispectral imaging to maintain elite playing surfaces with surgical precision.
  • Execute a sophisticated IPM program that prioritizes biological controls and precision applications, maintaining detailed digital logs for regulatory compliance.
  • Manage the maintenance and programming of high-efficiency central control irrigation systems, ensuring all hardware is "future-proofed" for new software integrations.
  • Prepare annual operations and capital budgets that specifically account for the Return on Investment (ROI) of new technologies.
  • Partner with technology vendors to beta-test new products and ensure the course remains a "first-mover" in the region for agronomic advancements.
  • Serves as a "Lead Operator," demonstrating expert-level proficiency in the safe operation of all current inventory, including tractors, heavy-duty utility vehicles, fairway mowers, greens mowers, and sod cutters.
  • Provide oversight and stewardship of the Hole in One Honey beekeeping program, working in coordination with the designated vendor to ensure program quality, safety, and alignment with course operations.
  • Provide oversight of maintenance for facilities at the course, including the pump house.
  • Assists in maintenance of the athletic field and grounds at Seaview Park.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass Science, Agronomy, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in golf course maintenance, with verified hands-on experience operating all standard turf-maintenance machinery.
  • Restricted Use Pesticide (RUP) license or be able to obtain one within 6 months of hire.

  • Advanced skill in operating a wide variety of turf-specific machinery. Ability to train staff on the nuances of "striping," height-of-cut adjustments, and safe machine handling on varied terrain.
  • Functional knowledge of internal combustion engines and hydraulic systems, paired with the ability to troubleshoot software/hardware issues in "smart" equipment.
  • Ability to calculate complex mathematical formulas for the delivery of plant protectants and nutrients using both manual and GPS-guided systems.
  • Proficiency in managing modern management software and central control irrigation systems.
  • Ability to balance championship-level course conditions with environmental stewardship, applying sustainable practices and sound judgement to protect natural resources while maintaining a visually stunning and highly playable golf course.
  • Knowledge on being able to maintain paspalum turf with brackish water and how salt affects turf.
  • Assist in maintaining onsite fueling system for police, fire, and recreation.
