Position Summary

The Engineering Tech 1 is responsible for supporting the overall maintenance, safety, and functionality of the hotel property while delivering exceptional service to guests and team members. This role performs routine maintenance and repairs throughout guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces to ensure the hotel maintains the high operational and aesthetic standards of the Outset Collection by Hilton.

This position requires strong troubleshooting abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to respond efficiently to maintenance requests while minimizing disruption to the guest experience.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs in guest rooms, public areas, and hotel facilities including lighting, outlets, plumbing fixtures, furniture, and equipment

• Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests and work orders while providing professional and courteous guest interaction

• Assist with preventive maintenance programs including inspections, filter replacements, lubrication, and scheduled maintenance tasks

• Support hotel building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems

• Complete general upkeep projects including painting, drywall patching, minor carpentry, caulking, and equipment cleaning

• Inspect hotel property regularly to identify maintenance concerns and address potential issues before they impact operations or guest satisfaction

• Utilize hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely and effectively while ensuring tools are properly maintained

• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and repair documentation upon task completion

• Follow hotel safety procedures and regulatory compliance standards including OSHA, fire safety, and electrical safety guidelines

• Coordinate with housekeeping, front office, and leadership teams to ensure timely completion of maintenance needs and minimal guest disruption

• Assist with special projects, emergency repairs, and operational support as assigned by Engineering leadership

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of engineering shop, storage areas, and maintenance equipment

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• Previous hotel maintenance, facilities, engineering, or general maintenance experience preferred

• Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, painting, and carpentry systems preferred

• Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment

• Professional communication skills with the ability to interact positively with guests and team members

• Flexible schedule availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds for extended periods

Preferred Skills

• Prior hospitality or hotel engineering experience

• Experience with preventive maintenance systems or work order platforms

• Knowledge of hotel safety and compliance standards

• Strong organizational and time-management abilities

• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced hospitality environment

• Guest-service focused mindset with attention to detail

Schedule

This position is scheduled for second shift coverage:

Schedule flexibility may be required based on hotel operational needs.

Work Environment

This position operates throughout a professional hotel environment including guest rooms, public areas, rooftops, mechanical rooms, and back-of-house spaces. Engineering Tech 1 team members are expected to maintain professionalism, safety awareness, and service excellence representative of the Outset Collection by Hilton brand experience.
