DEPARTMENT/PROJECT OVERVIEW The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego (BGCGSD or Clubs) CHANGES LIVES through quality programs and guidance in a safe, affordable and fun environment. Members are involved in age-appropriate activities based upon our three priority outcomes of Academic Success, Character Development and Healthy Lifestyles.POSITION OVERVIEW Reporting to the Facilities and Maintenance Director, the Facilities Maintenance Specialist performs skilled maintenance, repair, adjustment and minor construction work in the trades to ensure that multiple countywide BGCGSD operated facilities are properly maintained and meet BGCGSD standards. Duties may include but are not limited to a variety of trades, including but not limited to carpentry, painting, plumping, electrical, and mechanical, energy management, fire and life safety and keys/security systems. Trains entry level staff members in facilities maintenance trades. Assist in planning work, identifying staff training needs, obtaining bids, and in project management. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. SAFETY WELLNESSEnsure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all youth, staff, and visitors by consistently enforcing safety protocols and organizational policies.Be proactive in identifying and reporting any safety concerns or maintenance requirements to ensure a safe working environment for everyone.Participate in safety drills and contribute to ongoing risk assessment and emergency preparedness efforts.Contribute to the ongoing improvement of Club safety and wellness policies and procedures across the ClubEnsures all maintenance equipment and vehicle is in good condition and is cleaned before and after use.
Performs preventative maintenance on building systems, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and control systems and related components; tests system competency and component devices and evaluates performance. Assists Director in planning and scheduling preventative maintenance work and recommends approaches to preventative maintenance programs.Repairs and maintains a variety of facilities systems, components and structures; repairs building plumbing, low-voltage, and line voltage electric systems, door hardware, fire and life safety protection equipment/systems, sprinkler systems, sensors and related hardware and software; constructs and maintains indoor/outdoor facilities, fans, lights and related; conducts structural inspections for safety.Performs minor electrical maintenance to include but not be limited to replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.) using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools.Performs minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, etc.).Performs minor painting, carpentry and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.).Performs service and preventative maintenance on small, motorized equipment engines; troubleshoots equipment problems and identifies when appropriate for external service provider to make repairs or perform warranty work.Identifies repair and maintenance projects requiring the assistance of contractors or vendors; participates in bid estimates and evaluations of project costs; monitors work of vendors or contractors; assists in the review of new construction or remodel plans to assure compliance with facility maintenance standards.Accesses and makes all levels of adjustments to computerized control systems, such as for lighting or energy management systems; and troubleshoots control system problems.Performs minor painting, carpentry and masonry work, plumbing, electrical maintenance.Reconfigures, installs, positions, and remounts modular offices and space to accommodate user needs and maximize office spacing using various hand, power and specialty tools, dollies and hand trucks.2. - Successful completion of pre-employment background check
