This position will train on 1st Shift & transfer to 2nd Shift (estimated January 2027).
JOB SUMMARYThe Team Leader position is a direct position. The large majority of the Team Leader’s time will be spent performing the direct function of the department to which he or she is assigned (i.e., assembling, welding, fabricating, painting, roofing, etc.). The Team Leader will aid the Coordinator/Supervisor in providing leadership within the workforce to promote the achievement of the department goals and objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Perform the direct function of the department in such a manner as to provide a role model for the rest of the department. The Team Leader will work above the average pace required to meet the department’s goals throughput objectives and will produce exemplary quality.
2. Interpret shop orders and drawings in order to instruct co-workers.
3. Provide encouragement and, when necessary, correction to workers incorrectly, unsafe or unproductively performing work. The Team Leader is expected to communicate these corrective actions to the Coordinator/Supervisor for proper documentation & disciplinary action.
4. Generate ideas to improve the product and the process, and encourage others to do so.
5. Help to train new workers to the department.
6. Identify problems and potential problems, and help to solve them quickly and effectively when they arise.
7. Promote the 5 S’s concept of order and housekeeping.
8. Provide input to the Coordinator/Supervisor in regard to employee performance evaluations for the department.
9. Work closely on a day-to-day basis with the Coordinator/Supervisor. Together, they will ensure notification of material shortages and have parts staged for production before they are needed.
10. Inspect product in the department to ensure quality standards are being met and rework will not be required later.
11. The Team Leader will be expected to equally divide the work load amongst the team in the most productive manner.
12. In the event the product line the Team Leader leads is down, they will be expected to follow instructions of another Team Leader of the area they have been assigned in the most productive and supportive manner.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Excellent attendance record required. Must have and be able to maintain an average of less than 6 points. Must be willing and able to work overtime.
2. Good working knowledge of all phases of department processes, standards, procedures, and equipment.
3. History of exceptional work performance.
4. Interest in and ability to lead employees and delegate work assignments.
5. Ability to conceptualize work flow and make necessary adjustments mid-stream.
6. Understands the concept and importance of quality controls and continuous improvement processes.
7. Exceptional ability to pre-plan and identify potential issues before they arise.
8. Must have good communication skills.
9. Must be a team player.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Physical fitness to perform all job functions of the designated work area, including any and all maintenance and heavy lifting assignments. This includes standing, small tool use, full arm and leg range of motion, bending, lifting, walking, crouching.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
