Job Description

Manager, Emergency Medical Services

The EMS Manager provides leadership and oversight for the clinical and administrative operations of the Emergency Medical Services department. This position is responsible for ensuring safe, consistent, and patient-centered care; maintaining operational readiness; supporting regulatory compliance; and managing the people, resources, policies, and performance systems needed for reliable service delivery. The EMS Manager partners closely with the Medical Director, organizational leaders, frontline staff, and community agencies to advance clinical quality, employee development, fiscal stewardship, and continuous improvement.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in emergency medical services, healthcare administration, nursing, business administration, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Current, unrestricted paramedic license or certification in the applicable jurisdiction, with eligibility to maintain all credentials required for the role.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications, or equivalent credentials accepted by the organization.
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in emergency medical services, including at least two years in a supervisory, leadership, or program-management capacity.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of pre-hospital clinical practice, quality improvement, infection prevention, emergency preparedness, and applicable federal, state, and local EMS requirements.
  • Experience with scheduling, workforce management, budgeting, policy development, performance reporting, and employee coaching.
  • Strong communication, decision-making, conflict-resolution, and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively across clinical, operational, and community stakeholders.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet organizational driving requirements.
  • Ability to respond outside normal business hours and participate in emergency or incident-command activities as operational needs require.
