Job Summary
This position provides comprehensive support and maintenance for Rockdale County's Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to meet spatial data requirements across all county departments. As part of the GIS team, the GIS Analyst functions as a generalist, handling a broad range of production tasks from high-precision data editing to creating maps and solutions for multiple departments. Work is performed in accordance with Federal, State, County, and departmental policies/procedures, County Ordinances, and the Georgia Plat Act.

Authoritative Data Management: Performs high-precision maintenance of the County's primary datasets, including Parcels, Street Centerlines, and Address Points, to ensure accuracy for the foundation of our GIS data.
Enterprise & Systems Operations: Operates within an ArcGIS Enterprise environment to manage SDE Geodatabases, publish web services, and maintain Portal/ArcGIS Online applications to ensure seamless data distribution.
Emergency Services Support: Manages and updates critical spatial data for E-911, EMA, Fire (RCFR), and Sheriff (RCSO), including response territories, boundaries, disaster planning, and crime analysis mapping.
Multi-Departmental Liaison: Acts as the primary GIS resource for diverse functions, including Citizen Engagement (Elections, Parks & Rec), County Utilities (General Services, Technology Services), and Public Utilities (RDOT, Stormwater, Water Resources).
Plan Review & Compliance: Reviews submitted engineered drawings, surveys, and plats for accuracy and compliance with local and state regulations, ensuring new developments are correctly integrated into the county database.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficiency with standard office software for documentation, reporting, and communication.
Ability to perform work in both office and field environments, including sitting, standing, walking, and occasionally lifting or using tools requiring dexterity.
Working Conditions
Typically performed in an office with occasional field visits.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geography, Computer Science, GIS, or a related field; OR a college-level certification in GIS.
- Three (3) years of hands-on work experience in the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) field, preferably in the public arena.
- OR a combination of education and experience equivalent to numbers #1 and #2 above.
- Valid State of Georgia Driver’s License
