Job Description

Creative Loan Structuring & Problem-Solving

  • Think beyond the obvious to structure or restructure loans that meet borrower objectives while remaining within applicable credit policy, investor guidelines, and compliance requirements.
  • Develop practical alternatives when a loan encounters challenges, including exploring eligible program options, qualifying approaches, documentation strategies, and changes to the proposed structure.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to evaluate options, resolve exceptions, and determine the most effective path forward.
  • Approach challenging files with a solutions-first mindset: understand the issue, identify viable options, communicate clearly, and drive toward resolution.
  • Balance creativity with disciplined risk management and sound credit judgment.
  • Apply strong mortgage underwriting and credit analysis skills to complex non-QM loan scenarios, particularly DSCR and bank statement loans.

Best-in-Class Customer Service

  • Deliver an exceptional, primarily phone-based customer experience through proactive communication, responsiveness, professionalism, and a genuine desire to help.
  • Confidently explain complex underwriting decisions, loan requirements, conditions, and available options to internal and external partners.
  • Take ownership of challenging conversations and escalations, communicating clearly and setting realistic expectations.
  • Build trust by being accessible, knowledgeable, dependable, and focused on solutions rather than simply identifying problems.
  • Maintain urgency and follow-through without compromising accuracy or service quality.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Operational Excellence

  • Coordinate across underwriting, processing, sales, closing, secondary marketing, and other departments to reduce friction and keep complex loans moving.
  • Serve as a central point of coordination for challenging scenarios that require input or action from multiple teams.
  • Anticipate downstream issues, clarify ownership, and proactively close communication gaps before they become bottlenecks.
  • Translate complex credit or investor requirements into clear, actionable next steps for the teams involved.
  • Help improve workflows, communication, and processes as the company scales.

Investor Guidelines & Pricing Knowledge

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of investor requirements, loan eligibility, credit parameters, and program-specific nuances.
  • Understand how loan structure and individual loan characteristics can affect eligibility, execution, and available options.
  • Bonus: Experience with the pricing or lock desk, including rate sheets, pricing engines, loan-level adjustments, lock procedures, extensions, relocks, and secondary market execution.
  • Collaborate effectively with secondary marketing and pricing teams to support efficient, informed loan decisions.

What We’re Looking For

  • Significant mortgage underwriting experience, specifically non-QM lending.
  • Strong, hands-on experience with both DSCR and bank statement loan programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex scenarios and recommend practical, well-supported solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of investor guidelines, eligibility requirements, and credit risk considerations.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and confidence handling frequent phone conversations.
  • A highly organized, detail-oriented approach with strong follow-through and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Proven ability to coordinate across departments and influence outcomes without relying on formal authority.
  • A customer-first mindset paired with sound judgment, accountability, and a sense of urgency.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving environment where priorities shift and new challenges arise.
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial attitude and genuine enthusiasm for helping build a growing business.
  • Ability to work in-office in Plano, Texas.

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a growth story. Join a fast-growing lender where your contributions can have a meaningful impact.
  • Make a real difference. Help solve complex lending challenges and improve the experience for customers and internal teams.
  • Think creatively. Bring your expertise and judgment to a role that values solutions, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Build with the business. Work alongside a collaborative team that is focused on growth, execution, and doing things the right way.
  • Help shape what comes next. Contribute ideas, improve processes, and help build a stronger operation as we scale.
