This role serves as a key technical bridge between customers, sales teams, and engineering organizations focused on advanced DSP and FPGA solutions. You will guide customers through the design journey, from early architecture decisions and technical evaluations to production deployment. The position combines deep expertise in digital signal processing with hands-on FPGA development, customer engagement, and strategic opportunity support. You will help shape high-value DSP and DirectRF engagements while identifying architectures that address complex customer requirements. Collaboration spans engineering, sales, product marketing, aerospace and defense teams, and other technical specialists. This is a highly visible opportunity to influence design wins, customer success, product direction, and the adoption of advanced programmable technologies.
As a DSP Specialist Field Applications Engineer, you will provide technical leadership throughout the customer design cycle while helping advance strategic DSP and DirectRF opportunities.
- Serve as the primary technical interface for customers evaluating or implementing DSP solutions in FPGA-based systems.
- Provide system architecture guidance, design recommendations, and performance optimization strategies.
- Lead technical discussions with engineering teams, technical decision-makers, and customer stakeholders.
- Partner with Sales and Field Sales Engineers to identify, qualify, prioritize, and advance DSP-related opportunities.
- Demonstrate and position DSP architectures using development tools and IP, including DSP Builder with MATLAB/Simulink.
- Support customers from initial concepts and architecture through development, design-in, and production.
- Apply deep DSP expertise across areas such as filtering, channelization, beamforming, RF/DSP chains, and related signal-processing applications.
- Debug complex system and application-level issues and develop practical solutions to technical challenges.
- Create reusable architectures, demonstrations, reference designs, and technical collateral to increase the efficiency and scalability of customer engagements.
- Support DirectRF opportunities in partnership with aerospace, defense, government, sales, and distribution teams.
- Identify appropriate RF and DSP architectures based on customer requirements and help define future solution needs.
- Deliver internal and customer-facing training on DSP technologies, tools, and design methodologies.
- Contribute to application notes, reference designs, solution documentation, and technical presentations.
- Provide customer-driven feedback to engineering teams to help influence future product architecture and development.
- Support strategic accounts and high-value opportunities with measurable business and revenue impact.
- Contribute technical input to opportunity qualification, prioritization, resource allocation, pipeline progression, and design-win tracking.
