Fiber Locator / Utility Locator
Connext is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Fiber Locator / Utility Locator to join our expanding fiber network operations team. This vital role involves accurately identifying, marking, and documenting underground fiber optic infrastructure to support the construction and maintenance of our high-quality network. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors in diverse environments and contribute to the growth of essential communication infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Locate and mark underground fiber optic cables and other utility lines safely, accurately, and efficiently
Document all locate activities thoroughly, including taking photos and completing required reports
Operate company vehicles and equipment responsibly, adhering to safety protocols
Assist with general construction, maintenance, and repair activities as needed
Coordinate with team members and project managers to ensure timely and precise work completion
Maintain accurate records of all locate tickets and related documentation
Follow safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
Skills and Qualifications
Previous experience in utility locating, construction, or related field preferred
Knowledge of underground utility systems and locating equipment
Ability to operate GPS devices, utility locators, and other field tools
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and in residential or remote environments
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Physical ability to perform fieldwork, including walking, digging, and operating equipment
